As a seasoned professional in the addiction treatment field, my 20 years of clinical experience covers a wide variety of issues that face individuals and their families. In collaboration with my clients, I provide an individually customized success plan. We face the issues of this life in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere where healing happens, hope is restored, and growth becomes the inevitable outcome.

I'm passionate about working with adults with active substance use issues, in new or long-term recovery, or experiencing grief or loss. I'm a licensed therapist and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). I have specialized training in substance abuse treatment with many years of experience. I welcome clients who want to explore whether or not the problematic behavior meets criteria for “addiction". I believe addiction induces much shame that individuals will need to recover from due to the damage addiction has caused in their lives physically, socially, and emotionally.

I am a mother of two, a person of faith, and a Counselor. I have a passion for helping others. I am committed to providing effective counseling to individuals seeking healing and personal growth. My personal challenges have granted me unique empathy for others' struggles. Experiencing how therapy can change lives motivates me to help clients find their inner strength and resilience.

My approach to the collaborative effort of psychotherapy is influenced by structural/strategic family systems theory, informing the process of joining with clients to clarify their roles in relationship, family, and community. Creative engagement in experiential learning assists individuals, couples, and families in gaining a fresh perspective through focused work that brings lasting results. I endeavor, in every client relationship, to de-mystify the daunting prospect of change, empowering personal choice in difficult circumstances through guided self-exploration.

Years of working with women, families and couples continues to teach me that what is valued most is relationship and a sense of being heard. For most,the therapeutic relationship and discovery of their "voice" is the beginning of transformation. What a gift for me to be part of that process. Working from the framework of Person Centered Therapy, I marvel over my client's determination and abilities to overcome their depression, anxiety, co-dependency, use of substances, and negative self images (that developed as a result of abusive histories and/or unresolved grief). Men and women are trapped with porn addiction, and I am committed to help you as a person find the true path to restoration. The porn addiction cycle is tough, but with your commitment to work hard we can do this together. I will help you find healing from its personal devastation and within your marriage. My practice also includes helping church leaders find restoration from burn out or other struggles such as pornography or infidelity.

Welcome to Gaining Clarity Counseling Services! All are welcome here! I take pride in being real. While techniques and interventions are important, the relationship between therapist and client is essential for positive outcomes. I have particular interest and experience in working with those impacted by traumatic experiences. I have come to recognize that much of client distress stems from unresolved trauma (grief, abuse, mistreatment, etc.). Together, we will address root causes and equip you with the tools necessary for sustainable lifestyle change.

I solely work with clients experiencing addiction disorders, their families, and co-occurring mental health. I offer virtual sessions for NC residents and am in-network with Aetna (NC Only). I offer virtual and in-person sessions for SC residents and can discuss insurance benefits on a case-by-case basis. I do not accept BCBS of SC. I also enjoy assisting other professionals by providing clinical supervision in North Carolina (CADC, LCAS-A, LCAS) and South Carolina (AADC, LAC).
