Starting with a new therapist can feel stressful and overwhelming. I began Nomad Therapy Services with the intention of breaking down some of the traditional barriers to accessing support by creating an environment that is laid-back and unconventional. We can meet in the office or your home, the park or café, or we can do a ‘walk and talk’ – whatever feels right for you! The Nomad belief is that our environment impacts our ability to fully and meaningfully engage in the therapeutic process. And having a therapist who provides a non-judgmental space free of formal constraints can help meaningfully guide our healing and growth.

I believe humans are beautifully complex beings with a mind, body, and spirit - to isolate healing to only one of these areas is to significantly limit potential growth. Are you experiencing anxiety that has not dissipated no matter how well you try to take care of yourself? Are you noticing that your relationships and career are not where you want them to be, but are struggling to know where to start to make changes? Maybe you are curious about how past challenges and trauma could be impacting you now, and want to break free from the hold that the past seems to have on you.

Currently accepting clients to start in July 2024. As a systemic thinker I love working with couples and individuals. My mission is to build a genuine connection with you so together we can collaboratively create a safe space that is nurturing and warm in nature. I strive to cultivate vulnerability and empowerment in my therapeutic office by fostering an authentic relationship. I would describe my therapeutic care to be grounded in compassion, empathy, and respect. Couples can expect to be met with compassion as I approach their desire to change while holding space to acknowledge where their relational wounds originate.

Have you felt like lately everything around you seems a little heavier? You are NOT alone in this feeling. If it hasn’t always felt very easy to ask for help, maybe now is the time you’re able to try something different. I see individual adults working through life transitions, trauma, anxiety and depression, building self-esteem, identity exploration, interpersonal relationships, and anything else that might be weighing them down.

Growing up, I always knew that I was different. Intuitive, creative, sensitive and emotional, I knew that I didn't fit the mold I was given but I could not understand why. As a therapist, I work with others who feel that they do not fit - those of use who have felt discomfort in ourselves, discomfort in our families, discomfort in our communities. I believe that in order to truly understand who we are and who we want to become, we must explore the experiences that we’ve had and look at the impact they have had on us. Once we understand what we have to work with, we are free to chose the best ways to move forward on the journey.

I have built a career on empowering, counseling, and educating women around their reproductive, hormonal, and sexual health. You need someone in your corner to support you, remind you of your innate strength, validate your struggle, speak with radical honesty, and help you restore your life. I promise to guide you through this process in a safe, laid back and non-judgmental atmosphere. We will work together on setting goals and I will provide you with practical and helpful tools to utilize outside of therapy. I believe everyone I work with has a valuable set of experiences and perspectives that are key to their own healing.

Dr. Larson-Konar believes: people have a tremendous capacity for inner strength, but sometimes we all need help accessing that strength. Therapy is a collaboration. Dr. Larson-Konar approaches therapy from a feminist and anti-racist stance, and he prizes the therapeutic relationship, ensuring that it's safe, warm, caring, and empowering. He strives to balance support with challenge. Therapy is hard work, but it's also fun, funny, and life-affirming.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
