I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling to meet the unique needs of individuals to support them to work toward their goals. These evidence-based approaches include Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I can support parent-child relationships for certain families using a framework to therapy called Child-Parent Psychotherapy. In addition, I draw from my knowledge and insight of the Three Principles; Mind, Thought, and Consciousness.

For 40 years I have provided counseling for individuals with a wide variety of mental health and addiction related problems. Counseling sessions may be with individuals, couples or a family group. When a client and I initially meet, we consider together the situations and concerns which have led them to counseling. Hello, my name is Sarah Bowlby. I graduated from Western Michigan University in 2020 with my master’s in social work. I began my career specializing in helping individuals that struggle with addiction and other substance use disorders. I approach substance use from a harm reduction perspective, which supports the person’s right to choose the nature of their recovery. I also have extensive experience with crisis intervention through Community Mental Health.

I love working with clients who are committed to working on themselves, and who want to experience a fuller, richer life. I enjoy working with individuals as well as couples and family relationships.
