I see therapy as providing an emotionally safe place for clients to reflect on whatever they are experiencing, to feel understood, and to receive help identifying ways to feel more settled internally and more able to manage life problems assertively. I have worked for over 35 years with clients from all kinds of circumstances and with a wide range of relationship and mental health difficulties. Whether they are seeking brief or long-term therapy, alone or with a partner or family members, I welcome clients of all ages.
My early training included psychodynamic and family systems approaches, and I have experience with other approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Having also worked since 1986 at a mental health clinic, I have seen many clients with psychotic disorders and other serious mental illnesses.
I continually reflect on what I learn from clients about how insight develops and how positive change occurs. I feel fortunate to be able to accompany people through their processing about what matters most in their lives, especially when they indicate that our work helps them to feel better.
