I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist proving therapy for children, adolescents and adults. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and strive to provide an affirming and validating space for all of my clients. I’ve found that many people come to me with narratives that describe themselves as “bad” or broken and not good enough, thinking that they will never succeed, or are unworthy of love or respect. These false beliefs often prevent them from making desired changes, resulting in a hopeless narrative that brings pain and discouragement.

I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults with issues related to behavior problems, low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, substance abuse/addictions, PTSD, sexual relations, and marital conflict.
Emotional well-being is really about choosing how you want to think, feel,& act. By developing new thoughts and behaviors you will be empowered to consciously CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Each and every choice we make has a corresponding consequence. If you are ready to obtain the necessary skills that will enable you to be more Emotionally Healthy, despite what life may throw at you, then email me to set up a consultation or appointment. Choosing to act rather than react is much more simple!

Couples are questioning "What went wrong with our marriage?" Together we explore and develop steps to build a better relationship.
Over the past 18 years I have found clients seeking my assistance who are searching for ways to improve their lives. Many times we find ourselves either stuck or unable to break free from the thoughts, feelings or behaviors that seem to drag us down. Many people find it helpful to be able to voice their struggles to someone who will be non judgmental or condemning. I have found that people want to renew their hope for a better tomorrow, others need to regain their inner strength, while others long for a new vision of what their life could be.

Chad also has significant experience working with adults who have experienced physical/sexual abuse, marital problems, personality disorders, agoraphobia, sleep issues, and adjustment disorders.
I fully believe that we all have the ability to be better, in many ways. We can learn to adjust , adapt, change, and be in control. We can learn to control our emotions, behaviors, actions, and thoughts. Awareness and mindfulness is attainable, we can learn this, and thus control the outcomes of our lives. We can't control the world around us, but we can control ourselves, and therefore, dictate how we live our lives, happy, and fulfilled. I earned a Bachelor and Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky from years 1996-2001. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Kentucky.

As a graduate from Campbellsville University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, my training is working with systems.
Our world today is full of tragedy and brokenness and it takes a toll on our emotional health. I believe that we are never without hope and that healing is always possible. We just have to be willing to take the first step and ask for help. When we have a physical symptom that indicates we might be getting sick, we don't hesitate to go in for a check-up. Mental Health is the exact same. Sometimes all we need is a check-up to help us get back on track.

I have a primary interest in helping those who have experienced truama of any kind during any period of life to include military truama, anxiety, depression, marital and family issues, PTSD, adjustment disorders, bi-polar I & II, eating disorders, social anxiety, social dysfunction, emotional disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder(s), and far more.
When a person is having mental health concerns/issues or when someone is struggling in life, they need to know that help isn't as scary as it sounds. I stay very down to Earth and accepting of all walks of life regardless of their background or situation. People in general have experiences that they may be embarrassed to talk about or even have a feeling of being ashamed. If you feel that the world has you down and you're struggling with mental health but want more out of life then you have found the right person to help. I strive to make each client feel valuable and comfortable while believing in their ability to heal.

People have become numb in the way they live- detached from God, their marriage, their children, and their purpose.
Marriage is a sacred and holy covenant ordained by God that takes place between a man and a woman. Any marriage that begins outside of these boundaries is bound for turbulence, and in many cases, utter destruction that impacts generations that arise from it. In fact, today, over half of all marriages will end in divorce. As a counselor who specializes in pre marital and marital therapy, I know all too well the various dynamics that lead couples into troubled waters. I am here to prevent you from wading too deeply and to offer a life-preserver for those who have already taken the plunge.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
