In the past, I have enjoyed working with individuals with a history of traumatic experiences, substance use, interpersonal difficulties, and psychosis. I enjoy working on goals with clients that involve cognitive restructuring and skills building. Additionally, I enjoy short-term solution-focused goals.

The ideal client would finally be open to change and hope to have better interpersonal relationships. This can be a client who struggles with their anxiety, possibly has poor attachment styles, and struggles with holding meaningful relationships (romantic, platonic, familial). Their goals would be identifying healthy boundaries and healthy responses, increasing effective communication skills, and identifying past relationships/present relationships in order to identify patterns/habits.

Something isn’t working. Sometimes nothing is working. Do you ever ask: “Is this what life comes down to?” Do you worry it’s too late to change, that mistakes, hurts, and injustices cannot be undone? Maybe worst are the times you feel the best option is to settle for the fleeting comfort of familiar ways because cold comfort is better than no comfort. I treat many people who have worked very hard in life but struggle privately with relationship issues, trauma, self-esteem, and the effects of complicated family histories. Some have tried therapy or self-help, but it wasn’t personalized enough, the right time, or the right approach.

I provide clients with a safe, supportive & respectful therapy/coaching experience. I’m there to listen. They can share “stories, past, present, life stresses/transition, mental health issues, family/couples goals” etc. I build upon clients strengths as we work together to achieve their goals. As a therapist & life coach I strive to provide my clients with a positive experience. Treatment concludes with them feeling better about themselves & having met "their goals”. The passion I felt when chose this field, early on in high school, still remains:). Through challenging times I’m grateful to be here, to help those in need.

I believe that one of the most important aspects of successful therapy is the connection between the therapist and the client. I offer a safe and nurturing environment based on trust and mutual respect. I believe many clients have the unconscious wisdom to guide themselves through difficult life events, and my role is to help the individual explore and discover themselves. I use a strength based approach to healing and problem solving, while always providing unconditional respect and nonjudgmental regard for the individual's personal therapeutic journey.

Sometimes we're not our "best selves." We change in ways we're not happy about, or, don't change in ways we'd like to. We feel too sad, disoriented, mad, anxious, numb, ashamed; we have one too many, too often. Job performance can suffer, relationships can wobble, getting to sleep (or out of bed) can become a chore. Life can fade in color, or, become too colorful. Together you and I can find a flashlight for your dark corners, and a negotiated, generative space from which to address painful, sometimes scary and/or frustrating situations and feelings.

I served as the co-chair of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology Graduate Student Committee helping young clinicians explore and develop their professional identities.
We all long for our experiences, feelings, and needs to be seen, recognized, and honored. I bring to our work deep respect for you and/or your child’s concerns and suffering. I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work, which I approach with curiosity and empathy. I am most interested in what your unique experience is, and I aim to listen deeply. A safe-enough space will help us to transform your patterns of experience that interfere with your ability to be compassionate with yourself, to build meaningful relationships, and to work and play creatively, in other words, to live a fulfilling life.

The treatment modalities that I practice are psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
"A year from now, you may wish you started today." - K. Lamb. It is normal to view the process of beginning therapy as daunting, however recognizing the need for help is a sign of strength and motivation. There is nothing harder than starting every day with the feeling that nothing is ever going to change and what's the use in trying? Therapy can and will help you address obstacles, create meaningful relationships, and learn ways to develop better insight. Whether you are experiencing depressed feelings, overwhelming anxiety, unbearable life transitions, or struggles in your relationships, it can get better.

I am trained in talk therapy and psychoanalytic counseling, which focuses on resolving deeper issues, in order to improve and alleviate symptoms, improve interpersonal relationships, and gain better self-understanding.
Everyone can benefit from better self-understanding. Sometimes our anxiety, depression, and internal conflicts can affect our relationships with others and the world in which we live. By creating a safe environment for expressing thoughts and feelings, I am able to help those who enter into a therapeutic alliance with me improve general satisfaction in interpersonal relationships and life.

I draw from psychoanalytic and attachment theories, paying attention to one's relationship with self/other, early experiences, and the sociopolitical milieu.
Hello, I am a licensed clinical psychologist in MA & OR. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a public interest attorney, and as a psychologist, I see the importance of being conscious of context in the therapy room. I specialize in psychodynamic psychotherapy -an evidence-based treatment- to illuminate how the past and present, external and internal, mutually influence one another. I also integrate tools from other therapy modalities to support the unique needs of each individual.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
