One of the most difficult conversations people can have is talking about themselves, but that is why therapy is so important: to give people the opportunity to practice how to talk and care for themselves. I would like to work with someone who wants to learn more about themselves, brainstorm on how to carry themselves, and find more ways to love themselves. Therapy is a wonderful place to rediscover what makes us who we are. Therapy is also a great place to take stalk on what we have in our life both the good and the needs improvement.

You’re good at so many things, but you struggle in relationships, with confidence in who you are, or managing grief. Therapy will help you tap into your natural ability for deep connection, inner strength, and healing. Perhaps in Relationships- you struggle with communication, boundaries, or you keep getting stuck in the same patterns? In Identity- you know your worth, but have trouble with your self-esteem? In Grief- you get overwhelmed, and don’t know where to start to feel better? You're ready to master relationships, heal, and be unapologetically yourself.

When you improve your relationship with yourself and your relationships with others, you are “on the path” to a happier, healthier life. I’d like to help you along that path. Together, we can explore a range of approaches: whatever works. But – so you know where I’m coming from – in the end, it’s always about relationships. I’d like to meet you.

Life is amazingly beautiful, full of experiences, teaching us life lessons. A journey that can be encountered with road blocks, finding us stuck with lack of mental clarity as to how to move forward. I believe in working with clients therapeutically to find the liberation of the mind and the spirit to allow you to re-engage in the life you were meant to live. I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals throughout the life span, specifically with life transitions and phase of life issues.

Hello/hola! My name is Piero and I am a gay, Peruvian, Spanish-speaking man who loves pizza. I deeply enjoy meeting with individuals, couples, and families, and it would be an honor to see how I can help you. I believe the most important thing in the therapeutic relationship is our connection, and that you enjoy meeting with me. You want a therapist who you look forward to seeing and who you feel comfortable and safe with, who is also willing to challenge you and help you grow. I like to be warm and friendly as well as direct and blunt, use humor when appropriate, and am comfortable talking about anything.

We strive to be an LGBTQ+ and poly affirming practice.
Hi, I'm Christina! I've been in the social work field for 15 years and I am a Co-Founder of Mountain View Therapy. Bailey Schendell and I created this telehealth group practice based in the principles of Narrative Therapy. We believe that meaning-making through stories shapes lives, relationships and communities. Our practice hopes to use this knowledge to help the people we serve uncover the stories that support their preferred lives.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
