Since 1983, in a variety of settings, I have enjoyed working with diverse individuals and couples to overcome their personal, relational, emotional and perceptual problems and build on their strengths for a new and brighter future. Whether their problem is a mood disorder or a relational issue, conflict management or PTSD, compulsive eating or a communication problem, I never tire watching people emerge and transform. Believers and non-believers, almost-believers and other-believers, almost everyone agrees that personal problems arise because of the disconnection we all feel that resides in this world. So what is the solution?

I can help you sort through and understand complex emotions like shame, guilt, despair, hopelessness, and lack of purpose. I will also help you look at your deepest core beliefs that drive much of what you experience in life and help you to learn how to change them.

My approach to counseling is grounded in compassion and understanding; I seek to cultivate a safe therapeutic environment to allow flexibility in exploring individual needs. The ultimate goal is to respectfully explore your human experience and discover a path of authenticity. I also provide life coaching to help learn principles that can be applied to your unique mental health journey.

My goal is to help the people I work with move towards what is meaningful in life amidst a history of trauma and hardship.

I am now seeing clients in person in the Liberty Lake office. I am looking forward to helping you reach your personal goals and overcome life's challenges. While counseling is not a cure for all of life's problems, the tools and insight gained through this process can help you carry your load in a productive way. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children in both the hospital and school settings. Some areas of my expertise are relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I am an EMDR and trauma informed therapist and work with clients to shift the narratives that can hold them back from their potential.

I am a faith-based Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of counseling experience. I have worked as a clinical supervisor, guidance counselor, adjunct professor, and works currently with children, couples and families to better their relationships and reduce stress. I am passionate about providing resources and tools to help my clients become the best that they can be. I am open to providing workshops, and community presentations and a variety of resources to my clients.

Dr. Kimberly Cole is the founder of Briar Rose Center and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She is a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapist. She has been in an independent practice in the Spokane-Seattle areas since January 2007. Her areas of expertise includes Complex Trauma (DID), PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Attacks, Grief-Loss, Sexual Orientation, Self-Care, Effective Communication, Problem Solving, Substance Abuse, Consultation, and Stress Management. Dr. Cole focuses on empowerment and independence; enhancement of strengths rather than a focus on weaknesses; lack of emphasis on pathology and victim blaming; and the importance of psycho-education.

Please know that my caseload and waitlist is currently full and unfortunately I am not accepting new clients right now. I operate my own private practice and specialize in working with teens, adults, and families by helping parents with their children, and helping adults work through their trauma. Through the use of attachment based, trauma-informed therapy, we will work hard together to address the issues and difficulties that you or your child might be experiencing.
