Using a holistic and humanistic lens, we work to identify areas you’d like to strengthen and improve.
Navigating life’s twists and turns can be overwhelming. We may feel stuck, lost, alone, or even disconnected from who we are and what we want. We may struggle to manage our emotions, have difficulty in our relationships, or feel overwhelmed with our responsibilities. I understand the deep importance for us to feel connected to others, to be understood, and the value of a non-judgmental space to express ourselves. Together, we will collaborate to identify your unique goals and develop strategies to help you achieve them.

Whether children, adolescents, or adults, we all have life challenges that need to be addressed: from the difficulties of navigating family requirements, needs, and dynamics to the stress associated with succeeding at school, work, or other areas. These can bring on depression, anxiety, acting out behaviors, relationship troubles and loss issues. Other times, we face challenges of our own making and need to learn how to adjust our behaviors and thought patterns. Sometimes, we just need to learn how to handle changes we were not expecting, or those we've been hoping not to have to face.

Sometimes we crave relief and want to reach out to start exploring what is bothering us. Then feelings of potential judgement or being unsure of the purpose of therapy can creep in and steer us away from initiating the healing process. I place no pressure on those working with me. I follow your lead and always ask permission before asking a question that could bring discomfort. We move together at a pace of your comfort. The inital phase of sessions will be dedicated to listening to your story. Together we'll guide you to a better understanding of the causes of your present woes by tying in connections to previous experiences.

I am best able to assist those who struggle with competitive relationships, and feelings of being on the losing side in their interactions with those they love. I have seen couples, individuals, and entire families struggling with attempts to force one another to 'win' arguments, only to find that they never seem to go away fully. Many times, other issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, sexual dysfunction or substance abuse becomes the main issue which families show to others the competitive nature which occurs within the family system, and are most concerned when they call for an initial session.

My passion and interest is in people, their stories, their struggles and their triumphs. This has led me to my mission to help people create the life they have always wanted. I passionately believe that the key of being a good therapist/counselor/coach/mentor is not to help people be something they’re not... but it’s to help people become more of who they really are!

Are you feeling unhappy about your life at this point. often depression is masked with the use of alcohol, drugs or some other kind of compulsive behavior. I have over 30 years treating families, couples, and individuals with these problems. There is no need to continue unhappiness when help is available. Asking for help is the first step, take it now.

When you can't always control what is happening, you can learn to control the way you respond. Being kind to your mind is to learn to accept and manage emotions. You deserve a safe space to flourish and prioritize your well-being. I can provide that for you!

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
