I enjoy working with people in all stages of life, especially older teens, young adults, and military, veterans, and military family members. I focus on the importance of self-care since it is essential to treating the whole person and managing depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationships, work, and other common issues. I have experience with and believe in the benefits of integrating faith and counseling, but am also respectful that this is a personal choice. My passion is to help others find peace, healing, and self-acceptance. I also value the human-animal bond and have a therapy dog in training that interacts with clients.

We often find ourselves members of "clubs" we never signed up for. Unexpected "club" memberships might include living with anxiety, complex ptsd/ptsd, divorce, single parenting, the challenges of fostering or adopting, loss of a loved one, on and on. Isolation and shame are common while navigating these "club memberships." My clients are tired of being tired, ready to move from paralysis to growth, and desperate for hope and healing. They want to believe they are worthy of love, hold intrinsic value, and have something positive to bring to the world. They want positive life change and healthy relationships with self and others.

Life can be hard, overwhelming, and sometimes we feel alone with no idea how to move forward. Even the simplest task can seem like you are scaling a mountain with nothing to protect you. As your therapist, my role is to stand with you as you climb the mountain and find healing along the way. I have extensive experience working with grief and loss- whether it is a parent, loved one, or friend and working with women of all ages who have experienced infertility, weight issues, and depression.

Let’s be honest, life is often a struggle. We go through hardships in our relationships, at work, school, home, and within ourselves. Some experience depression, anxiety or trauma, while others struggle to understand or accept who they are. That being said, life is also amazing and can be full of beautiful moments and experiences. The difficulty lies when our struggles get in the way of being able to enjoy those good moments. My hope as your therapist is to help you manage and overcome whatever struggles you may be experiencing, and to allow you to enjoy the beauty in life again.

My initial goal is to help clients feel a level of comfort and safety so they trust themselves and me to discuss and process what is needed to achieve their goals. I support clients in increasing their self-awareness, taking accountability and agency over certain aspects of their life, accepting what is unchangeable or out of their control, and walking with them as they figure out their next best steps; finding tangible solutions that propel them on their journey of feeling whole and healed. I want my clients to feel at peace and in alignment within themselves and throughout their whole life.

Are you the one everyone relies on—always there for family, friends, or your profession, while your own needs take a backseat? Has the pressure to keep everything together led to anxiety or burnout? Are you trying to adjust to a significant change in your life and feel overwhelmed? Maybe it looks like you have it all under control on the outside, but inside, it’s hard to just "be". If any of this resonates with you, know that you’re not alone. As a therapist, I specialize in helping people find balance and reconnect with themselves during challenging times.

I have vast experience working with late adolescents, adults and families who have endured trauma, loss, and life transitions.
My ideal client is one willing to invest the time and effort it takes to live life to their fullest potential. I am trauma focused and enjoy working with late teens and adults to find change, insight, and or acceptance regarding their life experience/s, help guide parents, and facilitate healthy relationships. It is my belief that often times our own past experiences impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. I strongly believe by entering into a healthy therapeutic relationship we can uncover some of those past experiences and identify how they have contributed to our current life circumstances.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
