I primarily work with adults experiencing a variety of difficult emotions including grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and feeling lost in their life journey.
Life can be extremely difficult to navigate at times, especially when going through major life transitions. Sometimes we feel numb or stuck and can’t figure out how to move forward or what to do next. I can help you navigate the choppy waters whether it’s from the loss of a loved one, relationship issues, or emotions that seem overwhelming. My personal and professional experiences have helped me understand that life can often make us feel lost. It challenges us and often makes us question who we are.

Did you struggle to build essential life skills due to growing up without much support or adequate psychological nurturance? Or you were born in a healthy and loving family, but life did not turn as planned? Feeling stuck in life, having lost its purpose, feeling lonely and unable to build or maintain healthy relationships, going through a loss (of a loved one, an opportunity, a job, an ability, or even a dream), all of these can take your energy and prevent you from living your best life. Turning a crisis into an opportunity can be a painful process.

My services include working with individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety and stress management, depression, grief counseling, self esteem and assertiveness training, working with children and adolescents struggling with interpersonal stress and behavioral issues.
Welcome. Through the hustle and bustle of life it is often the case that we neglect to take the time for ourselves to allow for self care let alone allow time to nurture our mental health. We sometimes forget that in order to do our best for others we must first assure that we are taking care of ourselves. My mission is to assist a wide variety of clients in working through issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem issues, and general life stressors in order to allow clients to examine and explore ways in which to live their best lives.

If you feel like you “have it all,” but you can’t shake this nagging feeling that something is missing, feel overwhelmed trying to manage your multiple roles (parent, spouse, partner, friend, co-worker), or are struggling to navigate fertility treatment as a queer person, get pregnant, be pregnant, or transition into parenthood, I can help. I don't practice one-size-fits-all therapy. I’ll follow your lead and use the creative process as a guide in sharing your experiences. I work with adults seeking support for perinatal mental health, trauma, and overall wellbeing with LGBTQIA+ affirming art therapy and counseling.

Hello, welcome to therapy. If you are seeking therapy, you may be struggling with some heavy and complicated feelings and need someone to talk to without fear of being judged. My approach is gentle, yet full of energy, enthusiasm, and determination. In other words, I will take a "spirited" approach to helping you, at your own pace, take an active role in your own healing. My goal for you is to not be in therapy for years and years, but to learn the techniques you can use on your own to deepen self awareness and live life through the eyes of your Authentic Self.

Therapy is an unusual process; there is nothing like it in day to day life. You come to a professional who focuses solely on you, your past, your future, your health, your goals and your perspective. Whatever you have been through, whatever you are trying to become, my goal is to do everything we can together to inspire you, to help you realize you can, and to help you know deep down that you are worth it. I will facilitate your understanding of your emotional (or lack of emotional) responses. You will learn the tools you need to heal from the trauma learning of the past and move forward, free to engage in life on your terms.

I offer clients a safe and non judgmental space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Sessions can be used to explore experiences in relationships, feelings of stress, desired changes, or symptoms associated with mental health. Clients who are interested in additional self-exploration can benefit from my talk-therapy approaches, as well as exploring emotions through the art making process. Art therapy is a creative option for clients who may feel stuck and can’t find the words to describe how they are feeling or for clients who desire visual and hands-on modes of processing.

Often, people realize at some point in their lives that they would like professional assistance in order to successfully navigate or cope with overwhelming situations, strained interpersonal relationships, or distressing emotional responses to their environment (e.g., sadness or excessive worrying). In addition, most people are also confronted by situations in which past experiences inform their current reactions, responses, and behaviors. Therapy can help individuals to develop awareness and insight into their emotions and behavior, feel hopeful, enact change, and live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
