West Georgia Counseling & Assessment Services has been servicing families through the DFCS since 2000. As of 2021, our practice also services individuals and families with private insurance, as a self pay client, individual, marital & family therapy sessions. We proudly serve our military veterans and their families as well as all members of our community. Our agency is composed of male and female, highly credentialed, diverse, and experienced staff of LPC's, APC's, Master level counselors, parent aids, and other staff.

Though trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, my humanistic background is the foundation for my belief that true healing occurs within relationships. Because I value the power of relationship, I want you to know that I have personally experienced hard things too. My own experiences with anxiety, loss and trauma all contribute to my caring, compassionate and personalized approach in therapy. I also believe that every behavior has a purpose and a payoff. If we can understand what drives the behavior, then we can begin work on strategies that will develop new skills to help you.

I have over 30 years in the field of counseling specializing in addiction and co-occurring disorders. I also have vast experience with the Military ASAP program as well with other private treatment facilities. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling from Troy University. I hold the credentials of Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and Certified Addiction Counselor II.

Through an objective and supportive relationship, which is often called the therapy alliance, I specialize in helping clients reach their short-term and/or long-term personal goals. I have a broad range of experience treating conditions, solving problems, and coping with circumstances that influence the emotional and cognitive functioning of adults of all ages and gender. I am a primarily a person-centered therapist with advanced training and expertise in treating conditions such as trauma, anxiety, and depression with evidence-based interventions such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and eye-movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR).

My name is Summer, and my areas of practice include substance use disorder, addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety and change of life stressors. I am also passionate about providing care to children and adolescents. I am a mother of two and have volunteered working with children in the past. I believe early intervention may promote better coping, resiliency and hope for the future. I am currently working under supervision in Lagrange, GA. I earned both my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lagrange College.

APT Counseling Services provide children, adult, and family therapy. Dr. Pass-Turner utilize highly skill techniques and strategies that promote empowerment and personal growth. She is a Doctor of Counseling Psychology who has worked in mental health for over 20 years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisior, Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, National Cerfified Counselor, Doctoral Addictions Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor, Clinically Certified Domestic Violence Counselor, and Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor specialties assessment/evaluation and child custody.

As a mental health therapist, I believe in empowering clients to become aware of their own healthy/unhealthy thinking and behavior so, in return, they can implement positive lifestyle changes. Collaboration between the client and myself is used to guide the client in redefining their own way of life. Clients should know that this sometimes can be a short or lengthy process but I am willing to walk all the way with them as they develop their new healthy self.
