Life can get tough, but you don't have to face it alone! I specialize working with teens and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, and life transitions (examples: moving, break-ups, transitioning to college, divorce, etc). Counseling provides a safe place to express your fears, hopes, and any emotion between. You can expect sessions with me to include support, helpful challenge, and learning practical tools and skills as needed. I work to create an environment where clients feel comfortable to be themselves while exploring the things that make them feel the most uncomfortable.

Being a first responder to crisis and tragedies, you can only be the "strong one" for so long, before it begins to wear on ourselves and your personal relationships. You may be an attorney, a physician, part of law enforcement, or on the leadership team of your church. Who are YOU supposed to turn to? We work with many people in your same position, struggling with doing good for others, at the sake of your own family & self-care.

My approach is empowerment-based and influenced by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Adlerian Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy - an eclectic experience that is tailored to your unique needs and personality.
Sometimes, when our emotions feel out of our control, we do things that don’t reflect our values. My goal is to assist you as you work to engage in life more authentically using effective nervous system regulation and increasing skillfulness. I believe that people are always doing the best that they can with the resources that they have, and they also want and need to deal with the hardships of life more effectively - that's where I step in to support, accept, educate, and guide. Some of my areas of specialization include: Addiction, Anxiety, BPD, Depression, Identity Exploration, Trauma Recovery, & Relationships and Communication.

I am a certified Adlerian psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience.
You may be a successful high achieving person, but struggling with feeling like it’s never good enough. Perfectionism seems like a virtue when you’re succeeding, but any difficulties can throw your sense of self-worth off. Even on good days it can feel like things aren’t “quite right”, and you’re not in control. These daily struggles can make you feel resentful, angry, and struggle in your relationships. I specialize in working with perfectionism, OCD, eating disorders, and anxiety.

I consider my theory of choice to be somewhat eclectic, with a profound emphasis on Positive Psychology and Adlerian Theory.
Through a strengths-based perspective, I will help you examine how attachment patterns have formed and affect one throughout our lives. As someone who enjoys working with children, families and adults in a collaborative relationship, I offer structured exercises as well as a place to feel comfortable expressing emotions. I believe that the “relationship” is the strongest catalyst for change from a psychological perspective. It is up to the client to create goals and it is my job to help you find ways to meet them. Positive Psychology helps one to develop resilience, optimism, happiness, motivation, hope and positive thinking.

I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach that combines cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques with Adlerian theories to promote balance between mind, body, spirit, and social environments.
An ideal client is someone who is dedicated to putting in the work necessary to facilitate lasting changes in their lives. Clients embark on a therapeutic journey that leads them to a deeper, richer, more secure and more grounded relationship with themselves. Once clients are able to attain feelings of authenticity and peacefulness within themselves, they are in a far better position to enrich and enhance the lives of people around them. I partner with my clients, no matter where they are when they start this journey, and I am at their side every step of the way.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
