My experience has been helping individuals and family members address issues such as: anxiety; depression; self-harm; bullying; aggression; self-esteem; trauma; behavioral, relational or spiritual problems; respect and communication.
Life is full of challenges! Some of those tests and trials we may need help with. It takes courage to reach out for help whether for ourselves or for our children. Having experienced such things in my own life, it is my desire to use my experience and training to support your courageous journey! My goal is to meet each person where they are, and together we decide the path to follow. I believe we are all beautiful, capable people full of tremendous potential. I endeavor to come alongside everyone I work with as they discover more of their strengths, abilities and personal greatness.

I use a combination of modalities, such as Internal Family Systems Theory, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
The L.E.A.D. therapeutic approach is based on four components: Love, Empathy, Awareness, and Direction. This is the foundation of my practice and how I engage with people to cultivate permanent changes in their lives. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my calling is to facilitate change through loving people as Jesus did, sitting with people in their pain and confusion, cultivating awareness and supporting Godly direction.

I am passionate about the work I do with those who struggle with family or relationship conflict, parenting, pregnancy/postpartum, anxiety, boundary setting, ADHD.
Therapy is a great way to show yourself love and compassion! I believe change and growth in therapy can happen from looking inward, getting curious, and learning to recognize patterns. Change can be scary, uncertain, and intimidating. It can also be empowering and grow confidence! We aren’t meant to go through it alone and I'd love to walk along side you through it. My goal as a therapist is to provide a trusting space that allows you to feel comfortable leaning into vulnerability, being your authentic self and building confidence to take steps towards change and growth.

I primarily work with children, adolescents, and families. Many of my clients have struggled with life transitions, symptoms of anxiety, depression symptoms, and social skills. Parents are invited to come to sessions to support skills inside and outside the counseling session. Collaborating with the family supports allows for skill acquisition and client empowerment.

If you feel that I may be a good fit for your needs then please reach out, I would be honored for the chance to meet with you and help support your family.
Counseling is a sensitive process that can help individuals to gain insight, and a deeper understanding of their life, as well as achieve their personal goals. I have always had an interest in working with children and believe that despite their small size, their lives may be filled with big emotions that can be tough to handle. In working with children I believe it’s important to connect with them on their level, meeting them where they are and using their language of play to guide growth and healing.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
