Thomas C. Estis, Ph.D. holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Social Work from Jackson State University and a Master of Arts in Substance Abuse Counseling with a minor in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana - Monroe; Dr. Estis’ credentials include national and state licensure: NCC, LPC, LPC-S , LMFT-BAS, LAC, and ICADC; Witnessing families in crisis for years prior to the addicted person entering treatment or recovery, Dr. Estis’ clinical research focuses the crisis necessary for the addicted person(s) to embrace treatment and ultimately recovery. Dr. Estis’ experiences spans more than two decades of personal and family counseling, speaking engagements including state and national level and COA background. Dominant therapeutic approaches include Gestalt and Existential Therapy which affords a holistic and spiritual roadmap for correlating the spiritual awakening stressed in the Twelve (12) Steps Recovery Programs. I currently offer online Telehealth counseling for a variety of individuals living anywhere in the State of Louisiana suffering with any of life's pains. I hold a PLPC and am a Certified Trauma Professional. I graduated from NSU in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Addictive Studies. I also attended University of Louisiana at Monroe and graduated in 2014 with a Master's of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health. I completed over 3000 hours post graduate in inpatient psychiatric care of the elderly as well as Multi Systemic Therapy in the community and outpatient mental health rehabilitation.

Growing up watching my grandmother struggle daily with mental illness, I naturally grew to have a heart for helping other people. I have spent the last decade of my life in the helping community and I believe that it is my life’s purpose to help people actualize the life they wish to have. I explain my position as a therapist by saying this to my clients, “It’s not my job to fix you because you are not broken. It’s my job to help you see things in a different way that will help you to function better” I welcome you as clients to embark on this journey of healing. My primary focus is working with men, women, and couples. With that focus, I’ve had experience working with substance and process addictions, eating disorders, professionals, other compulsive or problematic behaviors, and general mental health struggles, such as anxiety or depression. My passion is working with those struggling with healthy intimacy, appropriate attachment, and relational issues. Just with those three things can come so much confusion, hurt, and sadness. With help and growth, there can be healing, hope, and strength. I believe while we often get hurt in relationships, we can also be healed in relationships.

When humans experience trauma, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. My great passion is bringing healing to people who have experienced trauma.
