Even though it is a "children's center", I offer counseling services for anyone of any age.

The time we live in today is increasingly stressful and complex for young people and families who are grappling with post-pandemic fears and health issues, in addition to complex family histories, relationships, identity issues, social media pressures and educational expectations. Many feel stuck, anxious and/or depressed, which comes out in their behavior. As the young person or their caregiver, you are understandably concerned. You want to learn why this is happening and how to make the hardship ‘go away’. Mental health is not just in the mind, but a function of the body, spirit, social influence and environment as well.

I received my BA in Psychology from Michigan State University and my MA in Counseling from Oakland University. I’ve spent several years working with children, families, and individuals to help them achieve their goals.

Growing up in a culture between two worlds taught me to empathize with youth, parent’s, & communities dealing with identity conflict, familial & inferiority issues. I work to empower individuals toward a balance of interpersonal autonomy & self-advocacy embracing their world. My doctoral research & experiences supported a framework with diverse populations dealing with: depression, anxiety, identity issues, trauma, self-esteem, life-transitions, and most of all family conflict.

I'm also trained in EMDR, a highly effective method for treating trauma and PTSD. EMDR often requires fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy to achieve therapeutic goals.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I completed my doctorate in school and clinical child psychology at Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. My work has focused primarily on children, adolescents and families. I have experience working in therapeutic schools, hospitals and outpatient clinics. I also spent years working in sleep research. I am trained in evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents with a variety of presenting concerns.
