People often come to me stuck in past traumas, unhelpful patterns or survival mode. You might struggle with people-pleasing, numbing, or toxic relationships. Maybe you seek a compassionate space to talk about things you can't talk about anywhere else. I work with people wanting to understand and change the perplexing, harmful, or debilitating ways their mind and body react. My passion is helping people to feel more confident, empowered, in control and present. If you're looking to free yourself from past traumas and shame, to feel clearer and more content, we might be a good fit.

My mission is to help those seeking to establish peace with in themselves; to live a life established on an unwavering foundation. All builders know that the integrity of the establishments they construct need an unwavering foundation to remain at rest; not moved by the wind, water or movement of the earth. Likewise we can live peaceably in a confluent state of rest, unshaken by the stress of life, fully enjoying who and what we are.

Managing relationships, balancing priorities, and maintaining a healthy and meaningful lifestyle can be challenging. Therapy is often a primary resource used to gain better insights that help us become experts on our own lives. I believe in a solution focused and motivational style to therapy, while collaborating and working together with my patient to meet goals and create successes. Living a more valued and meaningful life helps in symptom reduction and improves overall quality of life and happiness.

I know you want to be confident, easy-going, and present in your life, but you may struggle feeling overwhelmed and stuck. In order to cope effectively with life’s challenges, it’s important to understand your current patterns and the reason you’re unable to meet your goals. Then, you can begin to change them to show up as your ideal self. The problem is, it’s difficult to figure this cycle out on your own. Most of us were never taught how to communicate, manage difficult emotions, or cope in general. In therapy, I'll help you move forward, so you can begin to show up for yourself, others, and live a meaningful life.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
