As a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York, I provide individual and family psychotherapy as well as couples counseling in my private practice. I treat children, adolscents, and adults and work with a Turkish-speaking population as well, given that I speak Turkish fluently and have a solid understanding of the culture. I have worked with individuals presenting with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, multi-cultural/assimilation issues, women's issues, chronic illnesses, and behavioral problems.
My education and experience allow me to draw upon a range of theories and techniques. I have a background in school psychology, which has afforded me a foundation in assessment and cognitive-behavioral interventions. Having obtained ongoing training in psychoanalytic techniques, I also have gained experience in psychodynamic and insight-oriented therapy.
I tailor my approach to the unique needs of each person and have a sensitivity to individual differences in ethnicity/race, culture, sexual orientation, and religion/spirituality. My goal is to help individuals gain insight, develop coping skills, and learn effective problem-solving in a setting that conveys empathy, warmth, and acceptance.
