A clinician’s theoretical framework is important, but the energy you feel with a therapist is what allows the work to unfold in meaningful way. A consultation is the only way to determine the right fit, but here is some information about my therapeutic framework that may help you. Authenticity, curiosity and kindness and the underpinning of my approach: therapy is a place for reverence, irreverence, sadness and laughter. I will participate and give a push when you need it. Dynamics that arise between therapist and patient give tremendous insight into relationships outside of the therapeutic space and we will get curious about that.
I have been in practice as a psychotherapist for 24 years. In addition to my therapy practice, I have worked with prisoners in capital cases for 22 years. I have extensive experience with trauma, addiction, mood disorders and the LBGTQ+ community.
My job is to help you fully articulate what doesn’t feel right and then figure out why you feel the way you do so you can move through it. We are all wired to experience the world in a particular way by our early caregiving systems and that will be a framework for understanding you and your therapeutic journey.
