My goal is to help guide you through challenging life transitions with empathy and compassion. Past events in our lives are part of our story, but they are not the entire story and they do not define us. My practice focuses on honoring the life that has shaped you, and empowering you to use those formative incidents to understand and grow into your authentic self. Therapy is a journey that we can take together, navigating the challenges in a collaborative way.

Whether you’re struggling with life transitions, relationships, or work stress, I’m here to help. I will create a warm, supportive environment to process whatever is coming up for you at the moment. I treat clients of all backgrounds in addressing anxiety, depression, ADHD and OCD. I also work with clients in the process of body acceptance because I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to accept our bodies when we’re constantly exposed to curated images of perfection on social media and in traditional media.

I believe that finding happiness and achieving peace is not the absence of conflict and stress, but our ability to better cope with it through better knowing ourselves. I want to partner with you to make more conscious choices, develop resilience, and empower you to make changes and address barriers that might have you feeling stuck. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I also happen to think that humor and having a good laugh is incredibly healing too.

Seeking therapy is a courageous act of self-care, and I aim to honor your bravery in a safe, warm, and affirming environment. I tend to work with teens and emerging adults navigating anxiety, negative body image, complex family dynamics, and the impact of trauma and difficult childhood events. Often, my clients’ issues and experiences lead to coping mechanisms that impede health: negative self-talk, disordered eating, compulsive behaviors, and blurry family boundaries. Our work will approach these behaviors with compassion and curiosity, and offer you a non judgemental space to work toward a more fulfilling and embodied life.

An effective therapy experience is one that supports a person in recognizing their own capabilities and potential, while using strengths to mitigate challenges. My hope is to assist you in cultivating a deeper understanding of your own intrapsychic road map and emotional terrain. I am a firm believer that every session should give you a piece of your own puzzle and over time help you gain the skills to navigate your own thoughts, control your behavioral and emotional responses, and understand your relationship patterns and conflicts.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver. This question can feel impossible to answer. Will we spend our lives politely ignoring that little voice inside, nudging us to explore and embrace the human experience? Or, will you listen and cultivate a fundamental trust in yourself, your identity, and your emotions? This isn’t a journey you have to take alone. You’re allowed to seek support through this, and I’d love to be that supportive space where you can safely navigate the ins and outs of your one wild and precious life.

In our sessions together, you can expect my therapeutic style to be warm, empathetic and person-centered. Therapy should not be one-size-fits-all and I recognize that every client brings a different story to session. You are the expert of your own experience and I will take the time to understand how we can collaborate together to work on your own personal therapeutic goals. We will work to help you develop new tools, process your experiences, emphasize your strengths and celebrate the little victories along the way.

What is holding you back? I work with young adults who don't know the answer to that question, who are struggling with life transitions, finding a purpose, and may be having a life "crisis." Often my clients are dealing with depression and anxiety related to difficulty making decisions, are stuck in an unsatisfying job, or are feeling confused and uncertain about the next step in their life. My goal is to help you understand what you want and what's holding you back.

In the current society we live in, buzzwords from the psychology field are being used widely. This has allowed for a drastic change in how therapy is perceived. From that, something else surfaced: the concept of modern loneliness, an issue that seems to be all around us like an invisible, yet quantifiable, statistic. We constantly hear about self-care, self-worth, self-love and boundaries as remedies for all challenges we face. The need for connection with the self is essential to a healthy life but to what extent have we decided the focus on the self will lead us to relatedness and responsibility for others?

Coming to therapy for the first time can be difficult. You have already taken a huge leap by reaching out for help. As a therapist, my job is to provide and facilitate a space where they can listen and learn from themselves. A space that is non-judgemental and authentic, where healing can take place. I am always inspired by my client’s ability to make connections about how their adult self is influenced by their past. Making these connections is what breaks patterns and creates change.

I understand that each individual comes from a complex and unique background. Due to this, I thoroughly believe that therapy can not be effective under a “one-size-fits-all” perspective. I strive to make my sessions a fully collaborative experience so that your voice is being heard and our sessions are tailored to what is important to you. Through this approach our sessions will be a gratifying experience in which we identify the root of your concerns and make positive change.

I want to support people exploring the spectrums of their sexuality, gender, and relationships. I work with individuals, couples, and those practicing or curious about non traditional relationship styles within the LGBTQIA+ community. I also work with folks who are working to understand their relationship or heal from religion/purity culture, those who are exploring elements of kink in their sexual explorations, survivors of sexual assault, and those suffering from anxiety, trauma, grief, and depression.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
