My approach to therapy assesses where your strengths are and where you want to improve. We'll then uncover relational raw spots or insecurities that keep your partnership disconnected. Then, I'll help you learn and practice new skills to repair issues quickly and feel more at ease when thrown off balance. I use my training in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy to target negative interaction patterns that have been fueling your conflicts so that you can reunite with fondness and admiration for each other. You may also find quick relief of stress symptoms with an Accelerated Resolution Therapy session.

I use a person-centered approach and take from the many modalities to best fit your needs, including CBT, EMDR and EFT.
Do you feel like you just "can't anymore" or torn between life's happenings, feeling overwhelmed? Have you had those moments of just wishing you can be better? Do better? I empower individuals to overcome these thoughts and realities brought upon depression, anxiety, trauma or just life. This is normal. I strongly believe in our own gift and strength to push through adversities. Resilence. We are humans and it's normal to hurt, and to struggle, but it is also within us to get back up.

In addition to a Masters in Family Therapy, I have received training in multiple modalities including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Object Relations, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Clinical Hypnosis.
I treat anxiety, depression, loneliness, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I believe that our relationships, past and present, have a great impact on our wellbeing starting from childhood. Memories can remain embedded in our unconscious and surface in ways of self-defeating thoughts and actions. My style of therapy allows the understanding of what is at the root of the problem. I help my clients gain insight into who they are so that they can live an authentic and intentional life.

I use Somatic Experiencing (a trauma therapy), Touch Skills for Trauma, Lifespan Integration, Psychodrama and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy amongst other modalities.
I am a Somatic Psychotherapist with a focus on helping to build resilience and regulation in ones nervous system. This allows for an organic shift in dealing with life’s stresses whether it comes from current stressors or from traumas of the past as far back as utero (Developmental Trauma). This positively impacts emotional, physical and spiritual well being. I like working with adults who are in transition, who are struggling in their relationship, and/or who continue to have the after effects of traumas in their lives. It is my belief that wounding begins in relationship and therefore needs to be healed in relationship.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
