I have been in private practice for over 30 years. I am privileged to counsel with adolescents age 15 and above, individuals and couples. Through counseling, I provide increased awareness and understanding of one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how one can develop more positive experiences in many areas of life. My therapy approach is interactive and solution focused utilizing various counseling methods to help you learn new skills and gain new insights. I collaborate with you to achieve healing and growth, emotionally, intellectually, behaviorally and spiritually.

Meltzer Counseling is located in Richardson, Texas. We offer counseling services to adults, adolescents, children, couples. Clinicians accept health insurance, some clinicians offer therapy services on a sliding scale. Additionally, we offer short-term FREE family therapy for qualifying families. All clinicians are direct and respectful and our goal is to utilize the best fit for each client's needs. I am truly honored when chosen to be someone's therapist. This is a hard decision to make and one that is not always easy. I have had the privilege to work with individual clients ages 12 to 80 years old. I enjoy helping teen clients navigate uncharted middle and high school territories and beyond. I also really love to work with adults in transition and those who are navigating through big decisions that can create anxiety. I have worked with female clients wading through the deep waters of depression and childhood trauma. I am also looking to work with older individuals 60 and up and how to help them with grief and medical trauma.

My belief around therapy is to focus on what you want to accomplish, drawing from strengths you already possess. My style tends to be more active and interactive. Often individuals and couples face an impasse & may realize they might not have the tools to move forward. For some, it may be an ongoing concern like managing anxiety/depression, enhancing communication, healing from 'the past'. For some, there is an experience or event that is prohibiting forward movement.

Healing and making life changes is what therapy is all about. I work with adolescents and adults using approaches encompassing spiritual, cognitive, behavioral, insight, and EMDR to make this happen. EMDR is a physiologically based method of therapy I use with many clients who have post traumatic stress, disturbing memories, anxiety and/or a history of abuse. This ranges from trauma experienced by veterans of wars, crime, and natural disasters to childhood emotional and physical abuse to varying degrees. Together we will match your therapy needs with the optimum approach for your healing and facilitation of change.
