Get rapid help that relieves anxiety, depression, uncontrollable negative thoughts and panic. Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) is not talk therapy. Instead, it is a short treatment modality that helps you overcome past traumas and triggering events so that you can get back to living again. If you have reoccurring negative thoughts or feelings that affect your mood this modality will flat line them for you. If you don't want to keep talking about this problem and you don't have time to be in therapy forever, contact Chris for EMDR.

I am certified in several evidence based approaches to trauma including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing ( EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
As a licensed therapist, I am trained to deal with a wide range of issues that affect one's relationship with self and others, but I have special training in assisting individuals, couples and families to adjust to change and to reclaim their lives following an unexpected event whether the event is recent or occurred many years ago. Reclaiming your life involves imagining and taking action on what comes next so I look to you to define how life would look at its most optimum and focus on goals that will bring that vision into being.

We can utilize EMDR to understand and break through old patterns.
The stress, anxiety, and stuckness are overwhelming at times. This isn’t where you thought you’d be at this point in life. Watching others who seem to have it together, and doing the comparison game isn’t helping. It’s scary, and seriously disappointing. How can you get unstuck when it’s so hard to trust yourself to make the right decisions?

In my practice, I focus on walking with clients through some of the most difficult events in their lives. Whether you've considered an experience “traumatic” or not, if it still haunts you or causes you uncomfortable physical responses like a racing heart or nausea, these can be treated with EMDR or Brainspotting.I, myself, am a trauma survivor, which is why I became a counselor/coach in the first place. I want to help others heal as I have. Utilizing modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) can unlock sensations of safety, clarity and freedom in life.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
