I am Gottman Method Level 3 Trained, a Certified Prepare and Enrich Facilitator, and an EMDR Therapist.
Let’s face it, asking for help can be one of the most difficult things to do. It might seem easier to search online and try to figure things out by yourself. Looking things up online is convenient, but the value of person-to-person communication with a professional who applies evidenced-based care in a safe and supportive setting is irreplaceable. I assist with life challenges such as anxiety/stress, trauma recovery/PTSD, relationship issues, communication issues, conflict management, adjustment issues, spirituality, transitions into new phases of life, and managing mental health symptoms in general.

My theoretical orientations: Cognitive-behavioral (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) (a therapy that helps clients work through traumatic experiences without experiencing extreme emotional side effects), Integrative and Holistic.
Are you feeling frustrated & lost with everything that is going on in the world? Do you want to move forward and feel stuck? I believe every person should be able to live life to the fullest! However, negative life events, trauma, relationships and we, ourselves often get in the way of our happiness, peace and reaching our goals. I have been able to help people "get their lives back." I assist teens and adults with trauma, anxiety, addiction, relational issues, problems with family communication, and more. I want to offer hope, assistance, and empowerment as a result of working together to achieve these goals ( EMDR therapist).

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences.
So much of how we see ourselves and the world is based on the beliefs we hold closely, sometimes unknowingly. These beliefs are developed and emphasized over time, feeling more and more like solid truth. All too often, these beliefs are not only untrue, they are harmful to our mental health and perception of who we are and what we're worth. I am dedicated to walking with you as you come to identify, understand and work through those beliefs to move toward self-compassion and growth. I am passionate about helping you to grow in self-awareness surrounding your emotions, relationships and ability to make changes within yourself.

I believe that self-awareness is one of the core pillars that aid in the alleviation of suffering. The simplest of lifestyle changes can create immense improvements in the quality of one’s life. Establishing a safe and trusting relationship with a therapist, can relieve psychological and physical imbalances, as well as uncover the unhealthy habits, patterns, and behaviors that lead to symptoms of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, and chronic pain. My practice focuses on the specific needs of women and girls throughout the lifespan.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
