I have special expertise in LGBTQ and gender issues, attachment and couples therapy, fertility and family planning, and end of life concerns and grief.
I offer individual, couples, and group therapy. In addition to ameliorating symptoms, decreasing emotional pain, and helping to solve difficult problems, experiential therapy, along with mindfulness and somatic awareness can facilitate significant personal growth and increased wellness. My approach is broadly humanistic, meaning we seek together in a safe and secure environment, mutual understanding of you as a whole person, honing your internal "voice" and tapping into your existing strengths. Once we identify who you really are inside and what is most important to you, the path to bringing your life into alignment becomes clearer.

Therapy is a partnership between the therapist and the client to work towards creating positive changes that one would like to focus on in their life.
Welcome, and thank you for considering me as a therapist to partner with you on your therapy journey! Taking the first steps to change your life can be challenging and, at times, a bit scary. I can relate to and understand how taking those initial steps to start a new journey can be uncomfortable. I am an integrative therapist, and like to use therapies like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), which is the newer wave of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), to help you build a new relationship with your brain.
Does the thought of therapy feel boring and pointless to you? Need someone who can help explain what is going on in your brain (or spouse or adolescent's brain), how it impacts you, and practical ways to help deal with your challenges (anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, conflict, anger, addiction, men's issues, etc)? Let's meet to figure out how to get you to the place where you are becoming the person you want to be. I work with people from all backgrounds, but primarily work with adult and adolescent males.

I have been providing outpatient therapy to individuals, couples, and families since 2019; prior to that, I worked as an intensive in-home counselor and ABA therapist for ten years while I obtained my master's degree and completed my residency. As much as I enjoy seeing my clients in person, I have strengthened my ability to provide therapy virtually, applying various resources and maintaining a strong rapport through my non-judgmental and open-minded approach.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
