I believe that helping individuals and families heal both physically and emotionally allows for changes in behavior and relationships. I am truly invested in helping ease the pain of those individuals in personal struggles through the realities of life. My goal is to restore peace and the human spirit within each individual. I work with individuals to reduce conflict, improve communication and relationships, and embrace individual strengths. I feel that a strong therapeutic relationship facilitates trust and growth. Individuals can expect to be treated with respect, compassion and care in a supportive and nurturing therapeutic environment.

I am a seasoned clinical psychotherapist with twenty years of experience working with teens, families, individuals, and couples.
You have a problem - These dreaded words are gut wrenching to hear. I can help. For decades, I have provided best in class eating disorder treatment at outpatient, intensive outpatient, PHP and RTC levels of care. I perform eating disorder assessments, treatment planning and execution of care for anorexia, bulimia nervosa, AFRID, and binge eating disorder (BED.) I also coach parents on refeeding children with EDO. I help clients to find body neutrality, so they can live rich and meaningful lives in the skin they're in. Self-acceptance IS possible, and you don't have to do this alone.

We will expand awareness of the relationship patterns that might have once served you, but now erode trust and connection.
My practice is rooted in my belief in the resilience of the human spirit, and my passion for supporting my clients in the process of healing and growth. As an emotionally focused therapist, I work with individuals, couples and families, and integrate a variety of treatment modalities tailored to my clients' individual needs. Among the issues I commonly work with are anxiety and depression, relationship challenges, trauma, grief and loss. The choice to begin therapy is an act of courage and hope. I am committed to creating a safe space to explore the difficulties you are facing, as well as what inspires you.

I partner with each client to create a collaborative environment in an effort to work towards envisioning an improved future.
I help people cope with challenges that hinder their ability to reach their full potential. Life is full of transitions, and can often become overwhelming when struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, identity problems, and/or relationship stress. I primarily specialize in working with late-adolescent to adult males struggling to navigate a successful future - one that often times becomes murky through these types of lenses.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a special focus on providing therapy for adults and couples. Depression, anxiety, personality disorders, relationship conflicts, unhealthy behaviors, and identity issues are among the broad areas in which I practice. Though the reasons you are seeking therapy might fit into one of these categories, your experiences and circumstances are unique--as is the way you communicate, your personality, and your sensibilities. I consider understanding who you are as a person, your desires and challenges, to be my primary task.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained in a variety of modalities working with adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Choosing a therapist is a very important decision. It is difficult to know where to start, what to look for or what questions to ask during an interview. To make this easier for you, I say- let's get to know each other. In an atmosphere of compassion and acceptance, we will talk about you and what brings you joy. Providing a safe and accepting environment where you can feel comfortable to speak freely and openly is of the utmost importance to me.

The efficacy of any kind of therapy relies heavily on the therapeutic alliance (meaning the relationship between the therapist and client).
Life can be challenging, those who reach out for support are allowing themselves to grow and evolve. My approach/philosophy is holistic, meaning my focus is on the whole person, and is grounded in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies. I often incorporate other modalities, depending on the needs of the person sitting across from me.  I believe passionately in working collaboratively, understanding how I practice and the methodologies I use is critical in the process.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
