I have over 25 years of clinical experience across multiple mental health systems. I have served in treating individuals and families in private practice for over 20 years, as well as schools, mental health communities, medical settings, and in Behavioral Health consulting in a number of high-risk settings. Additionally I worked as the Clinical Director of an inpatient substance use disorder treatment center. I am an intuitive compassionate presence dedicated to the field. I am diligent at staying up to date with emerging treatment modalities and theories.

My core value is compassion, which means that when we are hurt we must find ways to stay in the moment, to not leave ourselves. Birgitta Kieckhaben uses an integrative approach of various modalities, focusing on the individual client’s needs. Birgitta has a nursing background and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy experience for twenty-plus years with neurological, mental, and geriatric disorders. She has a keen interest in Native American studies, Genocide, intergenerational trauma and healing, and addiction. Her approach is trauma and social justice informed.

More and more people are having trouble knowing who they are or where they belong in life. What we were taught growing up or what we learn from society doesn't make sense or apply any longer. Because of this, we have difficulties from depression to questioning our own belief system. It may appear as confusion, anxiety, anger, or anything that disrupts our day-to-day life. When we feel this way it is a hurt or loss that is almost impossible to describe. My type of counseling presents people with an opportunity to understand why and how they think and feel the way they do and to go deeper than they could have possibly imagined.
