I work with families and children facing a variety of situations from diagnoses such as ADHD or Autism to issues such as divorce, social anxiety or acting out.
Are you feeling anxious and out of control when you think about your child? Do you have questions about relationships or parenting? I have a background in both development and psychotherapy. I teach parents about development and help them learn what is "getting in the way" of parenting the way they want to. I also help couples "get on the same page" with parenting. Children come here to enhance development, learn social skills and have good self esteem. Children with developmental, behavioral and sensory concerns find a safe place to grow and explore. Parent Coaching is also available.

I am also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist with 15 years of experience working in schools and am well versed in special education, Child Study Team, and section 504 processes and procedures.
To parents, their children are the most important part of their lives. No one wants to see their child struggle. Navigating the difficult years from preteen to adolescent to young adult can be a daunting task. In my work with young people, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help work through issues related to emotional difficulties, academic struggles, and behavioral problems. CBT focuses on learning new ways to think, feel, and behave and addresses pressing issues. As treatment progresses, I want patients to feel more able to utilize new strategies and skills while improving the quality of their life, education, relationships, and experiences.

My practice also has experience working with children and parents as well.
Life can be overwhelming! Many of us were not given the tools that we need to live our lives today. It can be exhausting to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. You may have tried everything possible to make changes in your life. It can feel very isolating and exhausting. You are not alone. Your life can get better. You can make the changes you have dreamed of making, with the right help and support. I can help you develop a tool box. The first step is reaching out. I am a member of the Healing Trauma Network. I also work with Holocaust survivors and their families. Our website is: www.connect4metherapy.com

We all want what’s best for ourselves, children, and others. You may notice a change over time for either you or your child “not feeling like my usual self” and not handling things in the same way at home, work, school, or in interactions with others. If you have ever felt like you do not know what to do or say therapy can be a place to work through feelings, thoughts, and situations that you have tried your hardest and best to respond to but feel at a loss or stuck. Therapy can help with sorting out why these changes have occurred in order to be able to move forward and feel like you are “back on track” and “in a better place”.

In treating families, my conviction is that demonstrated unconditional love is the birthright of every child.
As a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you to enhance your personal growth. I practice dynamic problem-solving with children, adolescents, and adults, coping with the life cycle stresses of "full catastrophe living", as described by Jon Kabat-Zinn in his book of the same name. The purpose of therapy is to reduce suffering, to develop a more affirming sense of self and to change damaging beliefs. My view is that we all need, at times, to create a space where we can practice a new attitude toward life, the world and ourselves.

I also have specialty training in children, couples and family therapy.
As a systemic thinker, I am always looking at a person in relationship to their environment, and the people in it. With a strength-based approach in family therapy, I also use psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral principles, while providing a safe and empathic environment for our work together. I have treated families, couples and individuals for 16 years with a broad scope of culture, age and relational issues. I have helped many people through transitional events that affect them throughout their lives; school, career, marriage, parenting, illness, loss, divorce and retirement. My interest is in the relationship you have with yourself and those around you.

I would be honored to actively help you or your child reach your full potential.
Are you or your child struggling with moodiness, emotional reactivity, impulsivity or focus? Do you or your child have difficulty setting goals and consistently achieving them? Do you or your child WANT to do things right, but inevitably mess up? I specialize in helping people like you- people who mean well and want to do good- but somehow just "can't" be who they want to be. It is so painful to feel inadequate inside... and even more painful to watch your child feel that way... My current work as a school counselor and background in addictions has given me a unique perspective on how to help children and teens thrive.

Life is filled with challenges. We all need help from time to time but asking for help may not be easy. Each of us experience life and the world around us through a unique lens. Often what we believe becomes our reality. It is not just what happens to us but how we experience those events personally, based on what is most important to us, that in turn influences how we feel and behave. I love helping people connect the dots between their life experiences and their personal needs and values to understand how to heal from the past and move forward to a brighter, better future.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in 07110 provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in 07110 build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
