Whether you are simply adjusting to a new or difficult situation or have felt trapped in a cycle of difficult emotions for years, it is my belief that each person harbors the tools they need and the ability to heal from within. My goal in working with you or your child is to foster a warm and trusting environment in which you can feel comfortable to identify, explore, and overcome obstacles that may be inhibiting you from living your best life. As a therapist, it is my role to walk alongside you in your unique journey by uncovering your innate strengths, support teaching you tools to better navigate stressors, and thrive.
I use a type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Rather than viewing difficult thoughts, memories, and feelings we may experience as the source of suffering, ACT proposes it is our response to these events that create strife. By learning to accept the above (rather than avoid or challenge) we may better respond to these experiences.
With this acceptance, one can then clarify what truly matters and start taking values guided actions towards these goals. It is my belief that by becoming more psychologically flexible, it is possible to shift from simply “surviving” to living a more mindful, meaningful life and thriving. Contact me to begin your healing journey today.
