You try so hard to keep the peace. You don't want to "rock the boat" and desperately want others to like you. After years of bending over backwards your nerves are so much on edge that others have called you "too sensitive" or "overly emotional". In relationships with family, friends, partners, and coworkers, you feel powerless and plagued with doubt. Overthinking and spiraling thoughts are your new norm. But recently, you're realizing that you've been putting other people first for years, so much so, that you've forgotten to take care of yourself.

As human beings living through these times, it is normal to feel times of struggle. Are you feeling overwhelmed, worried, or exhausted? You can live a happier, healthier life, and cope with life's curve balls. I help my clients tap into their brain power to cope with stress, break free from negative patterns and achieve their dreams. I get great joy from helping my clients empower themselves to feel more balance, peace and success.

We feel uncertain, afraid, and conflicted when going through hardship. And we often are self-critical at our low points, yet we all suffer in these ways. There are understandable reasons why we struggle that have nothing to do with our worth as people and everything to do with experiences we’ve had. Through no fault of our own, we internalize a lot of unhelpful stuff that we can carry with us. I believe that therapy at its best can help people break free from old emotions, habits, and stories that are not useful anymore. And I believe therapy has the potential to empower people to live more healthy, present, and authentic lives.

What is holding you back? I work with young adults who don't know the answer to that question, who are struggling with life transitions, finding a purpose, and may be having a life "crisis." Often my clients are dealing with depression and anxiety related to difficulty making decisions, are stuck in an unsatisfying job, or are feeling confused and uncertain about the next step in their life. My goal is to help you understand what you want and what's holding you back.

Congratulations, you've taken the first step toward emotional well-being. Seeking help is a sign of strength. The pandemic took its toll on everyone. Some of us are only now recognizing the repercussions. I believe you'll find me empathic, curious and as a client once told me, "You care but keep it real." This is my second career; Journalism was my first. After years of working for a daily NYC paper I freelanced and raised my children. My life experience has enabled me to walk in many people's shoes.

Our psychologists help you select and then connect with state-of-the-art resources that are right for you and can recommend accommodations wherever they are needed - in school, on the job, or on high stakes standardized tests.
If you are seeking answers about your child's behavior, learning, or interpersonal difficulties -- or are seeking help for struggles of your own -- a good diagnostic assessment is the best place to start. I am a psychologist with over 25 years of experience providing evaluations and assessments for private clients, schools and Family Court, and I founded Learning Insights to provide top-quality help in diagnosing problems, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Learning Disabilities. Beyond these areas, Learning Insights provides help for people who are seeking to adopt children, find a new career, or get unstuck in therapy.

I believe this has guided me in my life choices and career path.
I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with various emotional and mental health needs. My career began working with at-risk youth suffering from severe emotional disturbances. I later began working with children and families within their homes to secure a healthy balance of support and resources, while enhancing their sense of self. I enjoy working with individuals, families and couples. I am open to networking with any provider (i.e., teachers, primary care physicians, psychiatrists, etc.) that are involved in one's care. I believe in helping individuals identify their strengths and incorporating these strengths into their daily lives.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
