My approach is grounded in a relational psychodynamic perspective, and I utilize cognitive behavioral, family systems, humanistic, transpersonal, social justice, and mindfulness strategies to help my clients find ways to cope with their suffering.
I enjoy working with children and adults to help them find grounded ways of being with and moving through the struggles they face. I believe that strong relationships, with the self, the body, and with others, are central to a healthy lifestyle. Painful life experiences, transitions, trauma, anxiety, and depression are opportunities for growth, and helping people move through these challenges is incredibly rewarding. I love working with people of diverse sociocultural backgrounds and exploring how culture shapes experience. A deep understanding of development allows me to connect with people of all ages and help them move through difficult stages.

I am trained in trauma informed therapy such as EMDR, IFS, and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM).
If you could change one thing about your life, what would make you happier? Maybe it would be making your relationships with others more satisfying or reducing your anxiety or depression. In individual therapy I help create a safe space to step back and observe your own emotions, beliefs, and patterns of relating to others. My approach is supportive, understanding, non-judgmental but also practical, honest and helpful in finding new solutions and ways to work through difficulties and problems.

I mostly work with gay/queer individuals and relationships (couples/polycules). Identity, transition, and shame come up regularly in my sessions, and I am comfortable discussing sex, from kink/BDSM to pleasure to communication. I focus on anxiety, including self-blame, perfectionism, and body concerns. With relationships (monogamous, open, and poly), we'll evaluate your current goals and needs before exploring new ways of connecting, with joy and self-compassion. Bring your whole self and we'll get curious together.

Many of my clients are disabled, queer, and trans. I love to support individuals and families in finding and shifting cycles that keep them stuck. This can look like a cycle of anxiety that keeps swirling and growing no matter how much you try to avoid or reassure it. Or like families that are caught in challenging cycles of communication, who are working to shift things but feel caught in old patterns. My clients are often impacted by multiple layers of social and internalized stigma. Specific issues my clients seek care for include OCD, ADHD, depression, trauma, bereavement, and identity development around disability and gender.

I am the therapist and coach for “the strong friend.” I serve high-achieving, high-performing professional women who are the go-to problem solver and listening ear for just about everyone–often at the sacrifice of their own emotional health and wellness. My heart is for women, especially Black women, to experience freedom and liberation from toxic narratives around value and worth. You get to be complex, emotional, angry, sad, and not okay. You deserve to be cared for, attuned to, seen, validated, take up space, and live a life that brings you pleasure and joy. You get to prioritize you and not live a life of pure self-sacrifice.

I approach therapy from a gentle, holistic perspective, pulling from strengths-based approaches, Internal Family Systems “parts-work,” inner child healing, and mind-body somatic work.
We all carry wounds that run deeper than we’d like to admit. Sometimes these wounds continue to affect us in the present, even if we hope we’ve put the past firmly behind us. Maybe you’re struggling with people-pleasing patterns, self-judgment, or perfectionism. Perhaps it’s hard to identify how you feel or what you really need. Or maybe you just have a nagging sense that something isn’t quite right. I help clients address anxiety, codependency, trauma, and more in order to reclaim their lives and build the future they want. As a queer therapist, I also specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals.

My style: A balance of light-hearted humor + direct challenge • Interactive, intuitive, & insightful • Resourced by practical skills, tools, & materials to learn from • Trauma-informed & grounded • Rooted in Internal Family Systems & somatics • Tailored to you.
How you feel towards yourself can profoundly impact your relationships, work, school, and more. And a lot can make it hard to feel your best. You might be: Exhausted by a relentless self-critical voice...Considering your next steps to feel authentically aligned with your gender and sexuality...Struggling with boundaries and people-pleasing... Stressed and stuck in your closest relationships...Curious about non-monogamy but unsure where to start...Looking for nonjudgmental guidance navigating dynamics within polyamory and kink — not to mention managing all of this under capitalism. No wonder you'd like support!

I also utilize therapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.
Do you feel alone in your emotions and challenges? Do negative thoughts, anxieties and worries sometimes seem uncontrollable and overwhelming? Or maybe you are curious about how your past experiences may be showing up in your present life. Grief, anxiety and life transitions can cause us to feel so many uncomfortable, difficult feelings that at times feel unbearable. As the world turns on, it can be difficult to find the time to understand how life's ups and downs impact how we show up for ourselves and others every day. Therapy is a great way to broaden this understanding.

I use IFS, DBT, and narrative approaches among other techniques, but I believe that therapy is first and foremost a human relationship, and I will invest in getting to know you and your unique life circumstances before adjusting my approach to support you in your specific goals and needs.
I specialize in working with women, young adults, trauma survivors, and individuals grappling with identity issues, finding purpose in life, and experiencing major life changes. You are not broken, and I am not here to heal you, fix you, rescue you, or make you better. I am here to support you on your journey to discovering your authentic self and releasing old stories and patterns of behaviors that no longer serve you so that you may live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

I use a combination of emotionally-focused therapy, internal family systems therapy, CBT, and somatic embodiment to help you gain the insight you desire.
Your body is always communicating information to you, and your emotions are the messenger. Maybe it's the consistent feeling of overwhelm, or the throws of depression. Maybe you are experiencing physical pain as a result of emotional pain. Whatever it is, I believe in the wisdom of your body and I want to help you become an expert at your own body language so that you can have more autonomy over your life.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
