I specialize and have successfully treated individuals with anxiety,depression,bi-polar disorder, post traumatic stress, sexual issues, relationship challenges, and goal setting and personal coaching.
As the author of the book, Facing Your Fears, Following Your Dreams and Finding Success, I have watched 100's of clients change their lives to be more fulfilling and successful. I work individually, in groups or over the phone to help coach clients towards accomplishing their dreams. Most people realize that we are our own worst enemies. By changing negative and fearful thoughts into positive and goal directed thinking, minor miracles start to occur. With 30 years of experience I have worked with clients to find more happiness in their relationships, and improve the quality of their lives.

My journey of over 25 years as a mentor, counselor, and coach—alongside personal roles as a military spouse and mother—have deeply informed my understanding of you who have forgetten to have empathy for yourself.
End of school year obligations are over, phew! Before summer activities fill up your spare time, book some therapy time to focus on you. Taking responsibility for everyone else’s stuff has left you depleted. Sometimes you don’t even want to leave the house because the empathy you feel for other people makes you feel so tired and overwhelmed. In our demanding world, it is easy to extend your caregiving and empathy so far and freely that you lose sight of your needs. A skillful, compassionate therapist can help you cultivate a healthier approach to empathy by helping you to establish balanced emotional and physical boundaries.

Hello! Great to meet you here! I am a clinical psychologist! I am also an author, musician, and former co-host of a national “call-in” psychology radio show. — I've been practicing psychology for 20+ years. One of my main strengths is facilitating you to SEE your core issues quickly, so that you can heal right away. You ought to be able to recognize these after our first session! — Contact me if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or you wish for sincere spiritual growth. — I facilitate your connection with your own intuition and authentic self (the part of us that was often rejected in childhood.)

Over the years, I’ve helped guide scores of individuals, couples, and families towards a path of healing from pain and trauma – helping them to achieve improved well-being, greater life fulfillment, healthy relationships, and emotional resilience.
No one is born with a playbook for life, but you have the power to write your own. Some people I work with recognize that they feel anxious, depressed, possibly reliving trauma, or are generally unfulfilled, while others are not sure why they are unhappy, nervous, not enjoying life. I’m here to help you get more out of life. More love, more joy, more peace. Change isn’t always easy. I offer a space where you can explore your emotions, fears, anger, and experience new-found hope, plus get real solutions, and thrive!

I value the relationship you and I have as therapist and client.
If you’re navigating a difficult chapter of life, the idea of going to therapy might feel both promising and daunting. I want you to know that you don’t have to have it “all together” when you show up here. Maybe you’re in the middle of a big life change such as a divorce or breakup, grief, or transitioning to college and find yourself stressing about the unknown and wondering what’s next. You might be noticing the way that experiences from your past are impacting your life or relationships in the present. Or, you might not even know how to describe what’s brought you here. You just know you need some support.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with seven years of experience treating individuals, couples and families to overcome and manage their daily stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, behavioral issues, relational distress, anger, compulsiveness, complex grief, unresolved past trauma, attachment wounds and other mental health challenges.
I admire people who seek therapy for the purpose of gaining insight into their relational issues with self and others. They choose to embrace vulnerability and work steadily to reach their goals. Despite the discomfort and ambiguity of the process, they stay focused on their intention of creating a healthier life. I believe that not every modality works for all. By catering to each client’s specific needs, I utilize the appropriate approach in order to help them move past their struggles and to gain a sense of strength to fulfill their mental health needs.

I work mainly with adults and late adolescents, individually, in couples and in groups. The areas I specialize in are sexual issues (individuals or couples), adults molested as children, emotional intimacy, communication, anxiety, depression, self-awareness, and deep and lasting character change. In my 45 years of practicing counseling and psychotherapy I've worked with a wide variety of people of different ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and those with physical challenges. I find it immensely rewarding to work with people who are actively seeking to resolve problems through increased self-awareness.

I am a good listener and view my client as a partner in the therapeutic process.
Are you looking for a therapist who will not only listen to you, but also speak and offer constructive feedback, instead of just sitting quietly in the background? For many people, it is important to find a therapist who will not only work to understand you but will also actively listen and engage you so as to help you learn about yourself and make changes that lead to a more satisfying and fulfilling life. In my 21 years as a licensed psychologist, my commitment is to be an open, straightforward and interactive therapist with my clients.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
