Looking for a therapist can be daunting, confusing and frustrating. There are so many unknowns - but one thing that you can be sure of is that I am here to help. Not all therapists are the same and I believe that there is someone for everyone. I also believe that authentic human connection is vital to everyone's well-being. Know that you don't have to be alone - I can be there to help you out of the dark, or sit there next to you. I am here to let you know that you are not broken and that you don’t need fixing. As your therapist, I will help you use the innate abilities that you already have to help shape your life for the better.

As a Play Therapist and Theraplay therapist, I focus on children's social and emotional well-being. When children struggle either socially or emotionally, they are unable to learn. That is because they are not present and focused on their learning environment and what is happening in their classroom. I will help build relationships and help your child build their social and emotional skills.

I am a somatic psychotherapist specializing in Womens health. The foundation of my approach to psychotherapy is in addressing the needs of the nervous system, helping clients to understand their own behavior and to improve their ability to live in their desired experience (less anxious, less depressed, more hopeful, etc.). In addition, my training provides the opportunity to address the distress of living in experiences that we never wanted to have and don't want to be the reality. I am dedicated to providing women with a safe environment to process trauma, grief, loss, fears and hopes as they manage the tasks of daily life.

Life is an adventure, but the road can be tough. We have trouble seeing our way through dark clouds to the light. We struggle to put one step forward when the mountain peak seems so high. We need a compass to point us north & a map to guide us to our destination. You are the expert carving your own trail, but my role, goal, & honor is to walk beside you to remind you how far you’ve come, highlight strengths to navigate the path ahead, find resources to lighten your load, empower goals to move from surviving to thriving, & recognize meaning in every moment & joy in the journey, because the best views come after the hardest climb.

Do you ever wonder what, exactly, is going on? Do you want to understand more about yourself and your mental health? Do you have a child struggling in school or with friendships? Many of us have questions about ourselves that range from "Why do I do this thing that keeps hurting me?" to "Do I have autism? Or ADHD? Am I depressed?" While therapy can be a helpful intervention to improve your life, knowing what you're working on is the first step to a healthier, happier version of yourself. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
