Therapy doesn't have to last forever but the benefits will. Most issues people face are relational in nature. There are emotions and behaviors that are problematic. These might include feelings of shame, discontentment, apathy, anger or even numbness. The behaviors might range from avoidance to compulsive and addictive. Are you experiencing problems with yourself or others? In therapy, you'll learn to be challenged and gain tools to handle difficult feelings while making decisions to do the hard work to change behaviors.

I have developed various programs designed to help men who struggle with anger management, domestic abuse, sex addiction and fathering.
I am in the business of helping you become the best version of yourself. Rather than focusing on just your symptoms, I facilitate your personal development and wellness. I explore life narratives, experiences in families, gender roles and cultural systems, but most importantly, I will hear you, see you and provide you a safe and challenging relationship to heal and grow. I consider it a privilege to be a trusted professional with my clients who courageously reveal vulnerabilities while building on their gifts. The path of becoming more conscious--a healthier you--is a path for courageous and bold individuals.

Welcome to a therapeutic journey of self-discovery and growth! With over a decade of experience as a Mental Health Social Worker, I've had the privilege of guiding diverse individuals through life's complexities. Each unique experience has honed my skills in various evidence-based practices, shaping my approach to providing support. Life holds both beautiful moments and profound challenges. It's natural to feel overwhelmed by emotions like uncertainty, anxiety, isolation, depression, grief, guilt, fear. These feelings can intensify our sense of separation, making it difficult to navigate alone.

Life is difficult, and sometimes challenges can overwhelm us. In over 20 years of counseling, I have gained a wealth of experience in helping people achieve meaningful growth and a greater sense of well-being. I feel called to help others through periods of depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, substance abuse, divorce, disability, trauma, abuse, and issues related to gender identity and sexuality. And as someone who identifies as a transgender female, I am naturally a strong advocate and ally for all those within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Hello! Life has a way of coming at us in the most unpredictable, unimaginable ways. As such, it can make the most "put-together-person" crumble. If you are feeling overwhelmed, scared, angry, confused, alone, helpless, worthless, stressed, lost, sad.... you've come to the right place. It happens to most of us and that's what makes us human. We make mistakes, we fall down, we get hurt, life is messy, and it gets to be too much and is seemingly unmanageable for us. With some help, we will go through the process of rebuilding, stand back up and then become stronger than we were before.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
