A native of New Orleans, I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Holy Cross University. I am currently a PLPC working under the supervision of April Ivy, LPC-S. After taking some personal time to focus on family and motherhood, I am thrilled to be back seeing clients again.

I see counseling as a process in which you the client, and I having come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I focus on clients with general mood disorders, addiction/ substance use and vocational issues. Working to help clients understand and identify their own strengths and incorporating coping skills. Helping them to exemplify their strengths while processing aspects of the past to create an understand their present and future.

Life has a tendency to create difficult moments for all of us. As these moments enter our world we have to deal with them head on. Our practice provides a comfortable, private atmosphere that is conducive to creating a sense of well-being which aids in the process of brighter days ahead. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor presently working on my dissertation for a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe as well as a former graduate of Loyola University, Notre Dame Seminary and Our Lady of Holy Cross College.

Currently in private practice in both Louisiana and Rhode Island, I offer individual therapy and psychological assessment to adults. Whether you have a problem to solve, goals to achieve or need emotional support, therapy can offer a safe space for an individual to disclose information and receive supportive, non-judgmental feedback, while learning skills to improve yourself. I am best suited to help you with mood difficulties, such as depression; self-esteem and identity problems; stress and anxiety; substance abuse problems; employment struggles; and relationship problems.

Most of my clients are ordinary people who have been sexually abused as children or adults, or are from alcoholic families, or are struggling with alcoholism in their current life. They may be having difficulty adjusting to changing circumstaaances in their lives due to divorce or loss of a family member or friend. Many of my clients are experiencing depression or anxiety or chronic worry.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience in addiction, sexual, spiritual and gender identity, self-esteem, trauma and HIV. I have treated a variety of presenting conditions ranging from depression and anxiety to mood disorders, sleep issues, relationship problems and life stress. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan with a particular interest in adults and the elderly. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling and view it as a process by which any of us could have the opportunity to focus on all the various aspects of our lives, ourselves, and who we want to become.

I am a LCSW with over 10 years of experiencing working with adults experiencing a range of struggles including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance misuse, and trauma. I use a strengths-based, humanistic, cognitive-behavior approach in working with clients to help them reach their goals in life.

I provide empathy & compassion to create a safe space for people to heal. Together we create a therapeutic relationship that allows for creativity & reflection. The human psyche can be a rather dark place. I shine light on areas that need attention. Ultimately, this helps us learn what is needed for you to grow & thrive. I have worked in shelters for unhoused teenagers & families, correctional facilities, organizations for survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault & on the behavioral health unit at a hospital for children & teenagers. I focus on psycho-somatic practices to bring balance into the lives of my clients.

My approach to counseling is holistic and based on the client's needs. I use methodology from humanistic psychology, person-centered therapy, psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioral therapy. I help clients identify hidden strengths and discover obstacles to a more meaningful life. I work with the client on building an authentic therapeutic relationship where the client is seen as the expert in her/his own life. I do this in a compassionate, safe, and nonjudgmental process. I am effective in working with people who seek short-term, solution-focused therapy as well as longer-term therapeutic goals.

William Lieder, LCSW-BACS, has earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Tulane. He is licensed by the State of Louisiana as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. He has over 25 years of clinical experience in treating adolescents, adults and families using individual and family therapy.

Kim Gordon is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and Louisiana. She has over 20 years of clinical experience.

My ideal client is an individual struggling with a transition in his/her life and desires a need for change. This can include: adults relocating, accepting a new job placement, separation/divorce, relationship ending, a transition from remote to on-site work, a young teen transitioning from high school to college, and or a young adult graduating from college and entering into a real-world setting.

These last few years have presented many challenges for everyone. Depression, anxiety, addiction, grief and other issues are on a rise. It is not always easy to make the decision to reach out for therapy. However, therapy can help and support a person through what they are experiencing. Change is not easy; it takes courage to change and you do not have to face it alone. I have worked in acute care for many years with adults, elderly, children and adolescents. I feel confident to work with many mental health issues.

Regardless of the reasons you’ve sought counseling, however, my aim is to help you find your own sense of direction amongst the troubles of the world.

Together, we can explore what inner turmoil, events, relationships and/or other factors may be causing distress in your life and develop tools and skills to overcome these hardships. I strive to provide a warm and cozy therapeutic environment and convey empathy and understanding in order to allow my clients to feel safe and validated during our sessions. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Mississippi in 2008; I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Trauma Professional.

I have nearly a decade of experience working with teens, emerging adults, adults, and couples with a diverse range of identity intersections and presenting concerns. My approach to psychotherapy is multidimensional. This allows for some flexibility and creativity in order to meet the diverse needs individuals bring to therapy and in their lives. One common denominator is creating a safe and positive relationship between therapist and client. This is the foundation of good psychotherapy.
