Are you struggling to navigate life following an ADHD diagnosis? Perhaps you suspect you may be on the neurodivergent spectrum and haven't received formal testing or treatment yet. As an ADHD specialist, I can be of assistance in helping you improve your self-confidence, executive functioning, and mood. Some of the most important pieces in neuroaffirming therapy is for us to discover what your strengths are, to help you understanding the way your brain operates differently, and to find ways to embrace your individuality.

One aspect of being a therapist is helping people add to their tools.
I enjoy working with people from all walks of life, backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. I have experience working with men, women, and children. I believe showing up authentically with ourselves and others is one of the bravest and most liberating things we can do in our lives. Therapy is a safe place to remember who we truly are and discover the power that each of us possess to create a life that we enjoy.

My hope is to help those who are in the midst of trauma, or working through depression and/or anxiety. I enjoy helping people find solutions that work for them, and to help people normalize how they are feeling and that it is not 'weird' to feel the way they do, but rather, help to learn healthy ways to express emotions, while also processing them.

Understanding that we do not live in a bubble and that many things can affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is the basis of how I approach therapy. Instead of focusing on the problem, my focus in therapy is on the strengths of a family, couple, or individual, which can lead to a solution-focused collaboration between the therapist and client(s). As a therapist, it is my responsibility to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to begin the process of change that will eventually lead them to more complete, happier lives.

I am LGBTQIA affirming and specialize in working with couples, as well as adults with ADHD, religious trauma, and career challenges.
Just as we sometimes need help caring for physical aches and pains, we often need help improving our mental health. I am passionate about helping others look inward to learn more about themselves and connect with their inner voice through the power of therapy. At its heart, therapy is as powerful as what you put into it. Being vulnerable can often feel daunting, but by working together, my goal is to help you build the confidence you need to bravely take the reins when you feel like the life you want is just out of reach.

If you find yourself feeling alone, uncertain and struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma or grief, I am here to help you.
Starting therapy is often the hardest part of therapy itself. In order to begin healing or making changes in our lives, it is important we begin to unravel how our past and present environment shapes how we see ourselves and the world. Therapy allows us to learn things about ourselves that are both uncomfortable and freeing. My approach is to help you identify your strengths, areas of growth and goals you want to meet to begin making changes while accepting that healing and progress are not linear, but rather part of what makes us human.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
