Much of my work has an emphasis on anxiety and ADHD; acknowledging the varying presentations that often lead to misdiagnoses.
I work with my clients to create a healthy and helping relationship. I approach therapy open-minded and judgment-free; working to promote a safe and supportive space that facilitates growth, discovery and healing. Often in our lives we lose our identities and our paths become blurred; I have worked with a variety of clients from differing backgrounds and have made it my goal to meet people where they are and to offer myself as an instrument in accessing many of the strengths that they already possess. Therapy offers a way to help improve areas in our lives where we feel we need support.

My specialties include mood disorders (anxiety and depression), self-esteem issues, and ADHD.
My favorite thing in the world is to affirm for someone that their feelings matter. I want you to feel safe expressing all of your thoughts and emotions. There is no problem too big or too small to talk about. No matter the situation, your reactions and feelings are important. I view therapy as a collaborative process. My clients tell me what they need help with, and we work together to figure out what their best course of action is. My job isn’t to tell you what to do and send you away. My job is to listen to you and empower you to take action to improve your life.

I specialize in evaluations for ADHD, autism, complex mental health concerns, and adult guardianship.
Neurodiversity affirming evaluations for age 16 years through adulthood. Have you been considering completing testing for ADHD or autism? Maybe your child was identified as neurodivergent, and you relate to the way they think, feel, and act. Maybe you’ve seen information online that has led you to question or self-identify as autistic or having ADHD. If you’ve looked at formal testing, you've seen that lots of places cater to children, or you might have gotten discouraged when you learned that the wait for testing is 6 months+. If this sounds like you, you’ve found the right place.

I work with adults (ages 18 and older), who struggle with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, family and relational issues, ADHD and couples counseling.
I believe in a Strength-Based approach to therapy. My belief is to start with what is working (even if it is just a little bit) and build from there. I encourage the client to have an active voice in the treatment process and to be involved in their clinical goal setting. I find that CBT and somatic techniques are helpful with many clients and utilize a variety of skills and activities to help clients learn and use these techniques in their daily life.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
