I named my business Life Journey Counseling because I believe that we are all on a journey. We typically have ideas about where we are headed and how we will get there, but life often deals us something different...something we didn't plan for. How we handle that is the key to our own personal growth. I am inspired by the power of people to help themselves, but also a firm believer in the importance of having support and help when we need it. I help people through the therapeutic relationship we form to realize their full potential.

Therapy asks us to tap into vulnerable parts of ourselves. My clients are courageous enough to show up as their authentic selves, therefore I value being my authentic self within our therapeutic relationship. I incorporate empirically supported interventions into our time processing concerns, building self-awareness, making meaningful changes, and exploring identities. My hope is you'll find safety and comfort as we build rapport and get into meaningful work. I specialize working with individuals who desire to dedicate less time and energy to food and body image concerns, and more time to aspects of life truly important to them.

Self-doubt. Overwhelm. Hopelessness. The fears and limiting messages of past traumas. Feeling disconnected from our partners, as if we speak different languages. Inability to relax and feel at peace. Does any of this sound familiar? These are some of the issues that clients have brought to me over the years in my practice. And I’ve been honored, humbled, and truly gratified to share and act as a guide in these journeys. I firmly believe that within each of us is the ability to find our voice, our self-empowerment, and our joy. I’d love to help you find yours.

I provide online and in-home therapy to people looking for psychedelic integration therapy. Plant and other consciousness expanding medicines can be a wonderful tool that many people use to heal trauma, anxiety, depression and get unstuck in life. I work with people at all parts of their healing journey, whether you are looking to integrate past experiences, are currently on a protocol, or are considering starting treatment.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
