Christi Moreno is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Comfort and Joy Therapy. She received her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP program and enjoys working with children (7+), adolescents, and adults of all ages. She enters every counseling relationship with a person-centered approach and uses a variety of counseling techniques and theories as appropriate for specific client situations. Techniques and theories could include elements from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Adlerian Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, DBT, Art Therapy, and many others.

I believe there is a need behind behaviors and once that need is identified and addressed, new behaviors can develop. We need a space that we can be heard, validated, and learn new ways to tackle difficulties in our lives. I specialize in working with children and their families to reduce problematic behaviors such as aggression, anxiety, depression, and social concerns.

I believe that everyone is individual, and that one type of therapy does not work for everyone. I am highly trained in many modalities including Traditional Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and many others. My personal belief is that the most important part of therapy is meeting someone where they are emotionally without judgment! Healing work cannot be done when someone feels judged or does not trust me.

Therapy has helped me manage my own struggles and I believe wholeheartedly that everyone can benefit. My goal is to offer clients a safe and empathetic space to share, grow intrapersonal awareness, and hopefully overcome or cope with grief, anxiety, trauma, and more. I have a passion for helping people and want every person to feel heard and understood.

For the last 30 years I've been privileged to work with courageous clients as they face traumatic life events, stand up to addictions, grieve betrayals and losses, and find freedom to live a more enjoyable confident life. I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to enter into a counseling process with a commitment to growth and change. The counseling process takes a lot of work and determination but I have seen long lasting results as clients have faced uncomfortable feelings and beliefs and literally rewired their brains! I can't imagine a more rewarding job.

Counseling provides individuals with hope and encourages growth. My desire is to walk beside individuals to offer insight and healing. I approach counseling with genuine connection. I work with many individuals with Trauma, Life Situations, Grief, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Sexual Abuse, and Relationship Difficulties.
