When men get hurt, the first reaction is to lash out or shut down. Neither helps us to understand or process the pain. What no one tells us is that “I don’t want to talk about it” is the first step to locking ourselves into a self-made prison. It's not only destructive to ourselves, but to the people around us. In that prison, pain becomes a wound that festers and makes it difficult for us to enjoy healthy relationships. Logically, the key to getting out of that prison is talking things out.
