We all stumble sometimes— it's a part of being human. Feelings like anxiety, despair, anger, grief, and loneliness aren’t signs that something is “wrong”; they’re natural, understandable responses to the complexity of being alive. Therapy offers a space to feel seen in these experiences and invites you to explore what a life of meaning might look like for you. Your presence, exactly as you are, is all that’s required to get started.

I believe we can all greatly benefit from being encouraged to express ourselves, understand our emotions and behaviors, and develop ways to cope and thrive in our environment. Together we will explore who you are, not just through your past experiences but mostly through your present emotions/behaviors and future goals. I approach each session with genuineness, openness and empathy. In my practice, counseling includes conversation and humor; both laughter and tears are important while healing and growing. While I certainly respect that serious matters are discussed in therapy, we can usually find ways to enjoy our progress!

You may look like you’re holding things together on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who you are anymore. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable adults who feel stuck—caught between responsibility, self-criticism, and a sense that life shouldn’t feel this heavy.

Therapy is an active process. I believe that each individual has the capacity to live their life in a different way. Through collaboration, we will consider your life experiences and how these have contributed to today's version of you. Creating an empathic, affirming, and non-judgmental space is a guiding principle in my approach to working with individuals and couples. I have pointed experience working alongside those navigating more difficult, transitional phases of their lives, such as grief and bereavement, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship conflict.

Hi and welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are going through a wide range of challenges—things like anxiety, stress, big life changes, questions around identity, relationship issues, depression, or past trauma.
While I work with people of all ages, I have the most experience supporting teens, pre-teens, and their families. Before becoming a therapist, I was a middle and high school teacher, and I’m currently a middle school counselor. I truly understand how tough and confusing those years can be for both children and their parents.

Are you suffering from postpartum mood swings? Or going over negative thoughts in your head? Depression and anxiety or feelings of frustration and despair can leave us lost, confused, or helpless. It may seem as though no one understands you and you feel cut off from friends and family that aren't experiencing the same things. You might not even be sure how long you've been feeling this way, but you know you are ready for a change. That it is time to step out from under the weight of uncertainty and begin to regain clarity and a sense of purpose. There is no reason to continue to suffer. You can and will feel better.

Feeling stuck in the same fights over and over? Your relationship can be more than getting through each day. We will work together in a safe, non-judgmental environment to explore the changes you envision for yourself and your relationships. Change can be scary; we will build off the strengths and resources you already have to make change feel possible. I see therapy as a collaboration between therapist and clients. My role is to provide evidence based practices that allow you both to remain hopeful throughout the process of achieving the changes you each desire.

Are you feeling stuck or sensing that there is more to life than your current experience suggests? I use several modalities to help clients explore their past, come to terms with their present, and create the future they desire. Through a psycho-spiritual approach, I help individuals uncover what gives their lives meaning. I use IFS and systems thinking to identify and release patterns that no longer serve. I use visualization and energy work to help clients move toward alignment with their true selves. Mind, body, spirit, and emotion are all connected and I view therapy as a space to rediscover inner healing wisdom.

I see counseling as a process in which we are a team. I love helping people pursue a greater understanding of how past experiences affect the how we respond presently. This is particularity helpful in understanding current relationship dynamics or complex trauma from past relationships.
In my work with couples, I love to explore how our individuality and experiences impact the day to day while teaching curiosity, empathy & compassion with clear, healthy boundaries! For couples therapy, I encourage 'intensive' sessions which are extended sessions beyond the normal 55 minutes that help us make progress in weeks rather than months!

You’re doing your best, but sometimes it just feels like too much. Maybe your mind won’t stop racing, or you feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. Maybe your child is struggling and you're overwhelmed trying to support them while holding everything else together. You might be navigating a big change in your life, questioning your direction, or managing a brain that works a little differently and wondering why it sometimes feels so hard just to be. You don’t have to do this alone.

To paraphrase artist and author Tori Press: I’m here to help hold your balloon until you feel ready to hold it again yourself. No one should have to face life’s challenges alone- even superheroes have sidekicks. My approach to therapy is solution-focused, person-centered, and holistic. While evidence-based practices and theoretical frameworks provide valuable guidance, I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My goal is to create a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where we can explore your challenges, ask tough questions, and work together to find meaningful solutions.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
