Still Waters has an individualized substance abuse program focusing on individual's strengths, needs, experiences & goals. This gives clients a deeper, more meaningful experience versus one-size-fits-all rehab programs that funnel clients into their most profitable addiction programs (e.g., Intensive Outpatient Treatment). Still Waters is the only licensed program that has a holistic mind-body-spirit approach to addiction, in Eastern Iowa, founded on faith-based, Christian principles, while respecting everyone regardless of their beliefs or faith.

My goal in therapy is to create that space through acceptance, connection, and compassion. In our busy and sometimes stressful lives, self-care is imperative. Tending to our own mental health may become necessary if the struggle becomes overwhelming to manage alone. My mission is to build a therapeutic alliance with you using a collaborative approach to reach your goals. The evidence-based approaches and interventions that I use are designed to assist you in further identifying and tapping into the strengths you already possess.

I enjoy using practical approaches to assist individuals and couples improve their communication, activate their strengths, learn new skills, and better ways of coping with emotions and relationships. From 1999 to 2012 I taught a class on relationships at the University of Iowa. When it's useful, I help my clients by sharing information from the class with them.

My goal is to inspire hope and help you discover the tools you need to solve your unique concerns while using a strengths-based, internal family systems and systemic approach. I am currently pursuing my play therapy certification and have great and broad interests in attachment issues, ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship dynamics, sex therapy, internet pornography addiction, and the social pressures of being single or divorced. I enjoy working with couples, individuals, families, and children. Change is possible! Let's explore the possibilities together.

I am a licensed psychologist and avid yogi who is excited to practice in a setting that embraces the mind-body connection.
