Unfortunately, counseling/therapy is still often viewed as reserved mostly for individuals with severe mental disorders.The truth is that all healthy individuals, of all ages, cultures, social and economic backgrounds, experience difficulties in life and there is nothing wrong or shameful in asking for a helping hand. As a experienced therapist I offer counseling sessions for children, adults, seniors and couples.
Coming from a person oriented approach, I believe that trust, empathy and unconditional acceptance create the environment where one can safely explore, understand and/or improve ineffective, troublesome emotionaI reactions and/ or behaviors. I mindfully choose and individualize the most effective techniques.
My experience had led me to believe that (much like Carl Roger) people have a self-actualizing tendency(a desire to fulfill their potential and become their best self. I found that humanistic and existential approaches allow clients to fulfill that potential by relying on their own strength to change.
