In my approach to therapy, I center safety and curiosity while working from an existential-humanistic perspective.
I work with adults 18+ who are looking for support with emotional distress, navigating their partner relationships, friendships, or family dynamics, living with the impacts of trauma, adjusting to life transitions, & those seeking neurodiversity-affirming support. There is hope to create a greater sense of connection, safety, and ease within yourself and your relationships. I offer therapy focused on deepening self-understanding, developing tools for a meaningful life, and discovering your healthier way of responding to life. We will explore approaches to your unique story to find more authentic ways to thrive in your day to day.

I consider mental health counseling a profession in which my clients come to me because they feel stuck and want to change. Further, I believe that many people believe that change is too difficult, too painful, or simply not possible. In other words, stuck! My role as a counselor is to clarify the issues that create the muck that holds my clients back from healing, growth, and thriving. I help them discover that their lives will not get better by chance, but by change. I believe that the road to healing involves pursuing change.

Hey, life can be tough. Some events are out of our control and sometimes we tend to get in our own way. Often negative events in our childhood shape our adult responses leading to anxiety, depression, avoidance, and panic. Whatever the experience you’re here because you’re ready to overcome it. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
