In life, sometimes the first step is the hardest step to take, and I applaud you for having the courage to do so. It is my passion and purpose to help see my clients through some of their hardest days and lowest points. My clients would describe me as honest, compassionate, and down to earth. I’m direct, easy to talk to, and I pride myself on the way that I connect with my clients on a deeper level. In our work, we will explore ways for you to develop effective coping skills, learn to communicate better, reach your personal goals, and build a more authentic, fulfilling life.

There are times in life where you may feel unequipped to deal with life's challenges, where you find old solutions and coping strategies do not solve the problem anymore, and may be in need of a different perspective. Therapy can be a wonderful resource for clients to get to know themselves better, adapt healthier coping skills and reach their goals and full potential to live a more fulfilling life. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere for clients to feel secure and supported on their journey towards self-fulfillment.

Too often in life, it seems as though the struggles we face are going to overwhelm us. Too often we feel as though the very people who should be our support system are either failing us, or are part of the problem. My aim during therapy is to create a safe and secure environment in order to help clients reach their goals and learn healthier ways of interacting with people and world. Life isn't always fair, and it isn't always easy; but it can be better. Therapy can be an important factor in reaching that potential.

We have a lot going on in our lives today and it can be hard to cope, but you don't have to do this alone. If you or a loved one are feeling like it's difficult to attain goals, motivate yourself or figure out how to better manage life stressors, then therapy may be for you. I have been working in the mental health field since 2018 and I have been a social worker since 2021, primarily working with adults and teens who struggle with mental health and/or substance use concerns. As a former educator, I recognized early on the importance of addressing students’ mental health needs to support their learning. This realization, along with years of volunteering and work in mental health agencies, inspired me to pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I have gained extensive experience working with diverse populations: children in group homes and residential facilities, adults in domestic violence and homeless shelters, individuals of all ages in suicide crisis intervention, as a school social worker, and through community outreach.

Hello! I approach my practice with the understanding that each person is an individual in a unique situation, therefore I engage in several different approaches, including CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Counseling, and Mindfulness. In therapy session, I tend to lean towards the Person-Centered approach with a mixture of CBT, Grounding and Mindfulness, however I always keep in mind that therapy is not a one size fits all. Everyone comes to seek individual growth and help, I therefore tailor my approaches to the unique person sitting in front of me.

You wish your spouse knew how to love you the way you want to be loved. Over the last year, the stress on your marriage has led you to a breaking point. Everyone in your house has been working and learning from home, crammed in on top of each other. All the normal outlets for fun have vanished. Meanwhile, communication between you and your spouse has hit an all-time low. Every morning, you politely tiptoe around each other in the kitchen, performing a ballet of indifference as you navigate the tense silence that’s taken root between you. The hurt and resentment keep piling up. The stage is set for another explosion.

Do you struggle with a loss of faith, unforgiveness, or depression? What about challenging relationships, difficulties with parenting, or a chronic illness? Are these issues affecting your day-to-day life, or your ability to function? Perhaps you feel emotionally drained or lost in thought with no motivation? I know what I feels like to have no energy or desire to answer texts or calls. I know what it feels like to barely have enough energy to give to your children much less yourself. Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about finding their place in life.

I believe that every patient is different and I work hard to establish individualized plans of care. I provide a confidential, judgment-free environment. I support clients in enhancing awareness of life patterns and stuck points that have prevented desired growth. When working with a couple, my approach is to assist in helping to identify patterns that couples are typically not conscious of and are generally unproductive in a relationship. My view is that regardless of the content, both individuals are contributing towards how things currently are. If both are motivated towards improving the relationship, success is guaranteed.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 11730?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
