I have extensive background in working with individuals and couples with relationship issues; employment problems; depression and anxiety; low self-esteem; communication difficulties; trauma; bereavement; life transitions; domestic abuse; childhood history of sexual abuse and/or incest; menopause, aging-related issues for both men and women; and caregiver role stress.
I strive to make my clients feel safe, comfortable, heard, and understood from our first session. I believe the connection between therapist and client is essential to emotional growth and change and to establishing a relationship with trust, warmth, honesty, and mutual respect. I help my clients to use their strengths to solve here- and- now problems. I also help to address more entrenched issues that are negatively affecting the ability to feel happy and to reach goals. My style is holistic, interactive and down-to-earth, and I focus on emphasizing the positive towards reaching goals.

I specialize in the treatment of loss related experiences, which can include a spectrum of conflicts resulting from loss of a job or career, relationship break-ups, loss of a loved one, illness, questions of self worth and self esteem, and adoption and infertility issues.
Working with individuals, families, children and teens for the past 20 years, I have come to learn that we all want to be understood so that we may live healthier, more productive lives. Often times however, conflicts and repetitive behaviors prevent us from finding the satisfaction we desire. Depression, anxiety, and a host of other self defeating conditions or behaviors can emerge that interfere with basic relationship success and can cause work, or school related difficulties. My approach is to work closely with you through any issues, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, designed to address your individual needs.

As a healer, it is crucial to make a client feel validated and heard. By first creating a strong therapeutic relationship, a client becomes comfortable enough to reveal the deepest and darkest aspects of their life that is never easy. I strive to help a client reach their maximum capacity and overall optimal well- being. I am dedicated to fully meeting my client's needs. I know how difficult it is to feel that your circumstances control your life. We will eliminate, together, negative self image, pleasing and placing others before ourselves, little to no boundaries, and much more.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
