I work with men, women, and couples over 18 years of age. No matter what your reason is for seeking therapy, you deserve someone to witness your truth without reaction. You might be unsure whether you’re justified being in therapy or tell yourself that things aren’t really that bad and that you’re okay. But allowing someone to just be there with you creates the space to look at your expectations, thoughts, and feelings, and see what you want to do with them. It's valuable for someone to be part of your journey to help you explore what your narrative is and how it is affected by patterns and dynamics that affect all of us.

The most healing aspect of therapy is the unique relationship between a client and therapist. I value the vulnerability and mutual trust created with my clients when they allow me to be a part of their stories. You can expect to leave sessions feeling heard and empowered, with a renewed connection to self and/or the world.

I believe as unique individuals, we all have the strength and power within us to help improve our way of life. I am here to serve as an understanding, empathic, and non-judgmental support system as we navigate through the initial concerns that brought you to therapy. Understanding the significant relationship between our own thoughts, experiences, and behaviors will assist in developing a stronger sense of self and a higher form of functioning in the world.

Sometimes life throws curves that seem to be insurmountable. Talking with a therapist can help you pay attention to and resolve the conflict that has gotten in the way of you having a more fulfilling life. Problems at work or school, inability to get a good night's rest, overeating are among the issues that you can't see as having you stuck. Depression or anxiety are real issues that must be worked through to get you back on track. Separation and loss are areas that can cause trauma. Trauma can be leaving home to go to college, the loss of a relationship, grief of loosing someone to death. Talking can get you through.

Julie views the therapeutic relationship as a supportive alliance that is formed through the sharing and exploration of one’s unique and sacred personal story. Julie believes that through sharing your story and engaging in a process of exploration, the lingering effects of past traumas can be released, as well as patterns that no longer serve you.

Hello! I am a writer and psychotherapist with five years of experience working with clients in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I focus on symptom reduction using evidence-based practices and building a comforting and helpful therapeutic relationship filled with understanding and humor. I recognize it can be hard and harrowing to trust someone new when you’re seeking help; I seek to create a warm, supportive environment from our first session.

My philosophy is simple in regards to problem solving, effective communication, improving relationships, working towards reaching a personal maximum potential and in healing from trauma. It’s to identify thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs. I believe that as soon as a person is able to communicate these four insight oriented drives, life immediately begins to improve and problems get solved. While this may sound easy, for many people it takes time to gain insight, self-evaluate, uncover and accept why we are the way we are (ie: biology and life experiences), decide on and follow through on changes to make in their life.

I offer a safe space for all forms of self-expression for individuals and couples across the sexuality spectrum. Often when we are placed in environments with intense levels of stress, whether this is from relationship issues, anxiety/depression, addiction or other life situations, we hold pain and trauma deep in our bodies. When we are unable to process and release this from our bodies, we become stuck in patterns that are unhealthy. I also specialize in couples therapy, utilizing Gottman Method Techniques as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy, to provide a safe space to explore sexual, relational and life challenges.

New Updates! I am accepting new clients! Your goals feel out of reach. You know, at least vaguely, what they are; but they seem very hard to get to. Maybe things have become unmanageable. You want to help yourself, your loved ones, maybe even the world, if you could just get there. Your open minded and determined; you just need a little help. Then welcome aboard. Give me a call and lets Conquer these Challenges, together!

Dealing with overwhelming emotions and stress can often be an isolating experience, but it does not have to be. My goal as a clinician is to create a safe setting for healing through compassion, understanding, and trust. Our work together will focus on gaining a stronger understanding of yourself while obtaining skills and techniques to forge meaning through difficult moments in life. I believe that high quality therapy comes from a customized approach by taking evidence-based methodologies and tailoring them to an individual’s personality and needs.

Too many life stressors may lead to unfocused work and/or frequent "crisis management" interventions. In collaboration, we identify presenting issues, prioritize problems, and clarify treatment goals for positive changes. I offer brief treatment (8-12 sessions) and long-term therapy (6 months+). For brief treatment, the average number of sessions needed is typically 8-12. For complex and persistent issues, more sessions might be needed. By maintaining congruence, genuineness, and unconditional warm regard, I build a trusting and supportive relationship with you.

When you choose to begin therapy, a match is pertinent to growth and change. I am direct, warm and will help you confront some of the more challenging aspects of yourself. My goal is always to facilitate living the best life you can. Keeping that in mind, therapy can be demanding at times, and requires a lot of patience with yourself and with the work; We will learn together how to communicate about what is happening in therapy beyond the conscious words that are used.

Healing is possible. Change is possible. Pain, grief, and shame can all be eased. Relationships can be repaired. I have been repeatedly amazed by the power of psychotherapy to do all of these things. Although it's not always easy to untangle life's circumstances and it may take time to reach the ultimate goal, most people find relief within the first few sessions.

At first, we will strive to learn if we can connect. We will explore and acknowledge if this is a space you can allow yourself to be seen. We will look at your challenges and strengths to understand how you have My goal is to create a safe space where exploration, questioning, discovery, and feeling are possible.
