I have extensive experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, as well as eating disorders.
As a therapist, I provide individual, couples and family therapy to adolescents and adults. I work in a collaborative, non-judgmental manner that aims to promote positive change within a person's life. After a comprehensive assessment, I utilize a variety of approaches including psychodynamic (focused on developing insight) and cognitive behavioral (focused on understanding the thoughts and behaviors that shape experience) based on individual need. Through therapy that respects the complexities of each individual's life, I strive for my clients to develop a deep understanding of themselves that will enable long lasting growth.

I treat teens, college students, and adults. Clients generally come to me with anxiety and mood challenges, often triggered by significant life stressors. These include relationship issues, parenting struggles, academic pressures, challenges around gender and sexual orientation, and work related stress. For over 20 years I have supported individuals and families through these challenging moments. Choosing a therapist for you or your child can be a challenge in itself. Here are some of useful things to know about me as you are working through this important decision.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst who provides therapy to individuals who are looking to more authentically connect with themselves and others; understand who they are, what they are feeling, and why they are experiencing the emotions they are feeling. I am trained to provide a variety of therapeutic interventions. I tailor my therapeutic approach to fit the unique needs and desires of each individual client. I use an insight oriented approach to aid individuals in understanding and interrupting repetitive patterns that may be interfering or often lead us to that "stuck" feeling.

I understand that symptoms and problems have meaning and I help patients to come to understand this meaning. Therapy loosens the forces that bind people to ways of living that have become unsatisfying. I seek to help patients understand themselves in a deep and complex way so that life becomes more free, more enriched, and more meaningful.

I believe that most of us can greatly benefit from a safe, trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Seeking help can be an overwhelming and intimidating process. I am a warm, engaged and directive therapist who believes that people can make positive changes to feel better and live more fulfilling and connected lives. My approach to therapy is integrative; combining psychodynamic, behavioral, and relational models. I work with teens, college students, adults and couples on a variety of presenting concerns. Additionally, I offer consultation and supervision services to other clinicians.

Throughout almost 35 years as a clinical psychologist, I've been impressed that the emotional suffering affecting us all, at times, has such universal causes. Insecurities and shame connected to childhood experiences over which we've had no control can take root, damaging self-esteem and emerging in symptoms of depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior patterns. Even without overwhelming childhood stressors, feelings of inadequacy, and once self-protective, now limiting "chains" of feeling/thinking/reacting can interfere with realizing dreams, weathering losses and meeting new life challenges in the areas of love and work.

My approach to therapy is described as empathetic, warm, engaging and collaborative. I am passionate about helping people build connections, gain awareness, and be as genuine as they can be. There is a believe that you are the expert on yourself and my hope is to help provide different perspectives and skills using approaches such as, CBT, Solution Focused and Relational Therapy in an effort to grow that expertise. My goal is to provide a space where you can explore what is most important to you in working towards your raised self awareness while developing goals directed towards you being in the drivers seat of your life.

If you are looking for couples or individual therapy, you've had an exhausting journey to this point. Perhaps you are a self-sufficient person who is used to making it on your own, but there is so, so much you are asked to hold right now. You may notice that in the strain in your relationships, in your unexpected emotional reactions, and in your body. There can be an overwhelming gap between the life and relationships you hope to have and your day-to-day reality. I offer a way forward through couples therapy and individual therapy that is informed by rich training and experience while honoring your depth, complexity and uniqueness.
