My name is Emily Gitau, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), working with adult patients across the state of Virginia. My expertise is in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and ADHD, using a combination of both medications and therapy when needed. My therapeutic approach is tailored on a patient’s needs. In addition to medication, I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Problem-Solving Therapy.

Loyette Wong is a military veteran and board-certified nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, she has treated patients with a wide range of diagnoses in the fields of sleep medicine, neurology and family medicine. She went on to receive her post-master's certification in psychiatric-mental health in order to better serve the demand of her patients. She specializes in providing compassionate and culturally competent care.

I have a genuine, realistic approach to psychiatry that relates to a variety of ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. I originally graduated with a bachelors in Psychology from Old Dominion University. I later returned to school to become a Registered Nurse in 2006 and eventually circled back into psychiatry via psychiatric home health. I decided to return to school to be a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner after many years of educating and advocating for mental health within the adult and geriatric community. In 2016, I graduated from University of Southern Indiana with a Masters of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and subsequently certified by ANCC to practice and prescribe as a PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner). I continue the rewarding practice of managing adult and geriatric patients with complex medical co-morbities that require additional expertise in managing their mental health needs. I am a family-oriented and spiritually grounded practitioner that seeks to thrive within my calling to provide a holistic and realistic approach to mental health for my patients.

The PMHNP compassion group provides care for the mental health community to render medication management. A group of professionals came together to share experiences and offer mutual support to the mental health community. Within the compassion group, the providers have experience in providing strategies for managing stress. The provider offers professional medication management to assist patients with psychiatric disorders fully. A professional approach to a more comprehensive treatment can address all Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and Bipolar Disorders. Other Therapies and modalities are offered through referrals.
