In a series of happy coincidences, my life took an unexpected turn in the Vanderbilt School of Nursing Master’s program where I was able to secure a spot in the psychiatric/mental health specialty. Much of my practice has been in community mental health which has been fulfilling, enlightening and educational. I’m comfortable with diagnosing and providing medication for depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD and sleep issues and providing education about the medication.

Angela Allen-Blaine is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She completed her Nursing degree at Southside Regional Medical Center School of Nursing, received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University, and her Master's degree in Nursing from Liberty University. Angela completed her post-Master's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner ANCC Board Certification from the University of Cincinnati and is currently working toward her doctoral degree in Nursing Practice (DNP) at Liberty University.

Natalie works with adults ages 18-65 with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and OCD and other mental health concerns. She likes to work closely with her clients to develop the best plan of care to suit their individual needs. Natalie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University and completed her Master of Science in Nursing through Walden University. Natalie is a native of the Richmond area. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. In her spare time she also enjoys fitness, reading, and working with her Labrador Retriever, Remi.

Nick is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who graduated with his Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022. He is a clinician who offers psychiatric medication management and supportive counseling. Before beginning his career as a Nurse Practitioner, Nick worked for 8+ years in inpatient Adult Medical and Acute Psychiatry at VCU. His profession as a psychiatric nurse has taught him to see people as they are, and to avoid labeling individuals based on their mental illness. Nick strives to provide a nonjudgmental, safe environment for all.

Liza is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) focused on the treatment of the adult population with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. Liza completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree (PMHNP program) at Walden University. Before pursuing her MSN, she worked in different settings as a psychiatric nurse for almost 20 years and provided care to individuals with various mental health diagnoses, ranging from mood disorders to schizophrenia.

Gifty Awenanya is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is a compassionate Nurse Practitioner with over 6 years of experience offering comprehensive patient care in the medical-surgical unit, long-term care, and behavioral health environments. Gifty works well with diverse patient populations and fosters trusting relationships to improve outcomes, provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, utilizing evidence-based interventions to promote healing and recovery.

I see a variety of individuals: children, adolescents, and adults. While I have a physical office space, I also do virtual appointments. I also treat some people in nursing home or group home settings. I take time in my appointments to get to know the person, the sources of the symptoms experienced, and explore the various aspects of the individual for a wholistic treatment.
